First Round of 2025 in the books at Kissena
A typical NYC muni, not a beaut of a course but a great first round of the year. A short hilly, tight par 64 lets you focus on your wedge game with a half decent tee shot. The greens were surprisingly solid for this early in the year. They appear to have been aerated a few weeks ago and almost fully recovered. The tee boxes on the other hand leave much to be desired. With the GN hot deal and monthly credit I played Kissena for $9.31 (greatest app ever!) for a round that played just under 4 hours on a Friday afternoon. Can’t complain one bit.
Pace of play
The course was not busy so we were able to play quickly.
There were a lot of areas not grown in yet and the greens need work. I'm sure as the weather turns the conditions will improve.
Consistently solid, best weekday pace of play
I consider it my home course. Great staff, solid layout, harder than the slope says. Can’t beat a 2.5-3 hour round on the weekday if your riding. With a cart for that speedy round. Nothing but improvements here since I first went 5 years ago. Respect the second cut, big hitter beware, sheath the driver. It’s good for about 5 holes. Great for working long irons and woods.
It’s feb what can you expect it was 25 degrees. No one on the course. Course condition was fine a little wet but that’s not the courses fault. all in all good condition. Actually Kissena is one of my favorite muni courses in NY. A shorter course with some fun holes.
Not a good day to play because of the weather
Very windy day and lots of dead leaves fell on the green, could not putt peacefully. So, it was not a great day to play golf.
Course was in okay
Course was in okay conditions giving the time of year. Pretty slow round 5 hours for a short course but expected in NYC. Staff in the ProShop checking players in has terrible attitude and manners. Sat there eating grapes for 5 minutes until she was done before she even spoke to us waiting. Starter was pleasant
Quick, Clean and Friendly
Nice course. Allows for par 3 practice and short par 4s that feel really nice. Small and fairly tight fairways. Pace of play runs slow but you can always book a tee time. Staff is excellent.
