Quite frankly - OUTSTANDING!

Just a ‘must’ for any golfer. Sensational, holes in the most beautiful part of the world. Part of me wants the world to know about it and part of me doesn’t!! Just awesome.

A nice course with great views but only 12 holes

I thought £36 for 12 holes was expensive and nothing was mentioned on GolfNow when we booked it

Quirky but worth a visit

The 12 holes of Shiskine are interesting. The 3rd hole (Crow's Nest)) is a blind shot of around 100 yds straight uphill to a small green. It's a fair layout but several blind tee shots.

Fab round of golf with friends

Shiskine is a wee gem. Granted we had a beautiful sunny day, but the views and scenery are magnificent. Some of the holes are quirky, others are just breathtaking, but overall the 12 hole course has challenges for all standards of golfer. We will be back.

Overall View

Beautiful course - well manacured. Stunning location. Friendly pro shop. My round finished at 15.25

Don’t understand why catering finishes at 15.30 when apart from me there were many players out on the course yet to finish.

Tricky but lovely

Nice course, 12 holes are plenty and all differentely challenging. Hitting straight more important than distance and a good roll even when damp. Great views and nice clubhouse. Not to be missed if golfing on Arran

Great fun and great location

Since reading about this course in the Tom Coyne book, we have been looking forward to play this course. He made it sound amazing, and he did not oversell it. Clubhouse is small (basically a pro shop), but the tennis clubhouse on top of the hill has more amenities. It's only a 12-hole course, even though GolfNow lists it as 18 holes, but it is 12 great holes with a wide variety in design, The tee boxes are not significantly different in distance, but there is a difference in par based on the tee color you choose. Make sure to get a good understanding of the layout to understand where to go, as there are more than a few blind shots, even on a couple of Par 3s. Fairways and tee boxes were fine, but the greens were a bit slow and bumpy, however they did roll pretty true. You can score well, but there is enough trouble that it is easy to have a blowup hole. Pay attention to the bells and signals for the blind shots holes, too. Expect to walk it, which is not too challenging with a trolley, but buggies are limited. If you aren't too distracted by the great views and fun layout, you will enjoy the round here.

Interesting and fun to play.

Great course. Interesting and fun to play. It was in good condition, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Only small criticism would be that a few more signs directing to the next tees would be helpful. Due to the layout I got confused a couple of times trying to follow the small map on the score card.

A very interesting course

I have played this course before and paid £35 for it. It’s only a 12 hole course, meaning it seems quite expensive compared to other local courses. It’s a very interesting course, with a number of scenic and blind shots. The third hole was closed, which was the iconic crows nest hole, which obviously made it 11 holes. No mention of money back or playing an extra hole. I was one of four people on the course, so it shouldn’t have been a problem playing an extra hole
Worth playing but be mindful it’s on 12 holes
