Maritzburg Golf Club

About
Maritzburg Golf Club was established on the 24th February, 1886 and the first official competition held in South Africa was played by its members on Monday the 14th June, 1886.
The course is not difficult and local knowledge is not essential. It is relatively flat, there are no blind holes or hidden horrors. The fairways are generous in width and the rough is not punishing, the greens are usually receptive and putt smoothly with subtle breaks on some. A meandering stream is a feature of the second nine which crosses holes 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17. You will find that the layout of the second nine is absolutely outstanding.
The golf course is suitable for players of all handicaps including beginners.

Greatly improved golf course
I last played this course about 10 years ago, and the improvement was immediately evident. Neat, well maintained and excellent greens, a joy to play. The grand old dame is fast regaining her stature as a must play course in KZN. Well done to the Staff, keep up the good work.
