Wonderful Maintenance Course
It's my second time to play at Moonah Links Course.
First- Legend Course, 2nd Open Course.
Playing at Moonah Links Course always give me pleasure of thrilling and challenging with strategy.
View from Tee off place: always have to consider accurate direction of driver.
Long and challenging with firm greens...
Welcome to a true test of golf. Peter Thompson’s designed this course to host the Australian Open, and the course features some natural amphitheatres around the greens. Sadly the open has left (commercial reality) but the course remains as a stunning links layout that I found a pleasure to play.
It does however require local knowledge. True to links style you do need to put the ball in the right place off the tee and on the green. There are slopes, bumps and Scottish style hidden bunkers aplenty. Be wary of the pin positions as you cannot play target golf here. The greens are firm and require you to adjust accordingly.
The signature par 3 5th with the elevated green and enormous bunker right is a truly intimidating hole.
The ninth and eighteenth holes are also superb looking finishing holes with views of the clubhouse. Don’t forget to look back at the view.
Nice practice facilities, magnificent clubhouse and pro shop.
