I mean, it's at an Irish castle
Full disclosure, we stayed at the castle but were not able to play the golf course. We did, however, tour the entire facility and see every single hole. The amazing staff was kind enough to take us around on carts and give us a great feel for what the experience would be like. I regret that we weren't able to play.
The thing with Dromoland is that it's close to Shannon airport. That's what makes it special. I know people want to play links courses in Ireland, I do too, but if you have time after you arrive or before you depart, don't overlook Dromoland as a convenient option. You won't be disappointed.
It's a difficult course, but beautiful with terrific people. A big thumbs up.
Wedding group
We played this wonderful course a day before a wedding, and everything exceeded my expectations. A splendid course, coupled with an extremely nice staff, made our golfing experience very rewarding! The course itself plays a lot tougher than it looks. We encountered windy conditions on the back nine, which made the round a bit more challenging. The course was well-maintained and the greens were sneaky-fast. I would definitely recommend this course - also, the club rental equipment was top-notch! I did not know what to expect, since we normally travel with our own sticks. Dromoland had the most recent Titleist irons/woods for our group. Pretty awesome...
Excellent
Beautiful day , very nice at shop aver all lovely experience
Great setting with excellent maintenance convenient to Shannon.
Been to Dromoland a number of times but this was the first to play the course. Exceeded my expectations as it is wonderfully maintained. Plenty of challenge for all HC's (I am a high HC but my son who played is a 7). The play along with the beautifull castle and grounds set this park couse apart. Very convenient if you are arriving or departing Ireland through the Shannon airport.
enjoyed this parkland course
Typical of Ireland, we had all kinds of weather at Dromoland but a wonderful golf experience overall. We used trolleys which required some exercise with all the ups and downs. After nine holes we tried to switch to golf carts but they were no longer available, as most players do use a cart. Next time I play Dromoland I'll use the golf cart and it will save a bit of time.
