The Biltmore Golf Course

About
The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

Nice course.
This is an old Florida course that is worth playing. It has nice wide fairways and a good course for all skill levels. The condition was very good. Greens were nice a pretty fast. The range was just OK. There is a nice putting great and large chipping area. The Biltmore Hotel makes for an impressive backdrop. The value for the money was excellent. The GPS on the carts makes for fast play.
Biltmore
Slick greens
Awesome fairways
Slow pace
Little steep in price.
Challenging course
Great course, pity about the carts
Really enjoyed the course and layout having played it years ago. It definitely becomes much more challenging as the wind picks up, but remains playable and enjoyable. The upkeek and conditions are much better than i've ever seen having played to course many times over 10 years ago. .
My primary gripe was with the golf carts and GPS. Our GPS went down multiple times and the software and screen were completeley unresponsive. If if were only tnot being able to access he distances that would be fine, but the problem is the GPS got stuck thinking we were in a restricted area so we had to play a couple of holes at 2mph speed limit they put cart to when it gets too close to green or goes onto the course for a cartpath only hole (we had stayed on path/it was the GPS that was bugging). The same happened to other group we were playing with on multiple holes, meaning it took them about 15 minutes to get from the middle of the 9th fairway to the teebox on 10. We finally figured out how to restart GPS, which they should explain to you before you set off if it is a recurring problem (my sample size of 2 - both with problems - suggests it probably is).
Excellent Golf Course
The course layout was excellent. Tee boxes were in excellent condition. Fairways were an excellent condition and the greens were pristine, challenging, sand wraps, and also challenging. If you were in the rough, it was a great experience and we will definitely come back.
Fabulous golf course
Great Course, but not worth full price
Lets start with value, while this was an amazing place to play and the conditions were well above average. In my opinion, this place doesnt have the experience that should accompany a $250+ round. Had to carry my clubs to and from bag drop, driving range WITH MATS marked for <220yard clubs, and lack of signage to get you to the first tee/starter/pro-shop.
Fortunately thats where the disappoint ends! The carts had great seats and GPS screens, came with a comp bottle of water, tees, and a towel. We went off the first tee right on time and saw the cart girl at least 4 times throughout the day(likely 5). The course was in great shape, bunkers were great, the rough was actually enough to be a penalty but not so much that it was unfair. Super open course and even with water on 6 holes you never feeel the pressure of its presence. The greens were amazing and a true test of green reading, nothing unfair or even super undulated, but there was always a subtle break or wrinkle that evened out the ease of tee to green. If your bunker game is weak, this is a long hard day. Bunkers will catch any offline drive or approach
Course backed up but ranger helped
My playing partners quit at the 7th hole and I was a single with 2 foursomes ahead of me. the ranger came by and I asked if the course opened up a hole or 2 ahead of me. He guided me to the 13th and said he would meet me at the 18th in case I wanted to play more. Clear sailing from the 13th, so much so I played the hardest hole on the course twice. The ranger met me at the 18th as he said he would. You can't get better than that.
