Eagle Springs Golf Course

About
Eagle Springs Golf Course (formerly known as DeFuniak Springs Country Club) is Walton County's oldest course and one of the panhandle area's most challenging. The golf course sprawls across rolling hills covered with pine forests and five spring-fed lakes, both of which come into play throughout the course. Sandy scrub brush and colorful flowering bushes accent the landscape even further. The towering trees lining the tight fairways are just some of the many challenging natural hazards. There are also 23 strategically placed sand traps throughout. The small, elevated greens are pitched and undulated in such a manner that would make even the best putters nervous. The rolling elevations also provide picturesque views from nearly every point on golf course. Eagle Springs Golf Course requires accuracy and careful course management, but the layout is still surprisingly accessible for a range of skill levels. As part of recent initiatives and upgrades to the property and management, kids under 15 play free.

The course has really improved.
The range was better than I expected. The majority of the greens are small but are in good shape. Great value and I will definitely play again.
Getting better every play
Been playing this course for many years. The improvements they have made are fabulous. The greens have improved 100%. There have been times that a hole or two was closed for work or they had a temporary tee box, but the eventual outcome is great. Thanks to the staff for what is becoming a well maintained course.
Eagle springs
Nice course worth the money, will play again. The course, was in really nice shape.
Fun in the sun !!!
Great hilly course - feels like you are in GA. It needs some TLC - not perfect by any means, but lots of great holes - especially no. 12 and 17 - super fun !!!
Excellent course conditions
My brother and I played with a friend today and met a member Thomas) at the number 1 tee box and played as a foursome. We had a great time and have played here 4-5 times over the last year. Eagle Springs continues to impress with maintaining the golf course in great shape! We will continue to make the trip from Santa Rosa beach as this is a fun track and the staff obviously is dedicated to maintaining conditions.
We understand there are plans to open a restaurant and serve adult beverages which we look forward to enjoying after our round!
If you have not played this course, do not hesitate to give it a try; you will not be disappointed!
Pretty nice course but.......
Nearly every green is built up over the surrounding land and the greens are small so your shots into the greens better be accurate or the ball could very well roll off. There are some holes that have slopes where there are eroded areas in the fairway so that needs fixing. Number 12 and 18 have white fences on the left and there is nothing on the scorecard about those fences being OB. Number 12 hole is diabolical and in my opinion borders on unfair and unreasonable. The fairway runs right to left at about a 30 degree angle to the tee. On the far side of that fairway is uphill into woods. On the side nearest the tee one must drive over water to the fairway which is only about 20 yards wide with two slopes on the side closest to the tee. Missing on these 2 slopes means the ball will hit and roll into the water or deep grass (almost knee deep). That hole needs to be redesigned to change the fairway to be at least twice as wide as it currently is and reduce the severity of the 2 slopes. There is one blind shot on the par five 17th over a mound, rolling left and downhill toward water. There needs to be a plaque embedded on the different tees saying how far from that tee to the water. Other than these comments I kind of like the course.
Delightful golf round!
You owe it to yourself and your golf buddies to check out Eagle Springs!
Challenging Greens
Great course. A lot of turtle back greens. Better come on point when approaching. Loved the challenge. Will definitely be back when in town
Fun course
We are senior golfers over the age of 80. We use golf as a time to relax and have fun. We play a best ball round as our long drives and accurate shots are a thing of the past. On this round we scored even par on the front nine. Started the back nine with five birdies then our only bogie of the day . We birdied the final hole which will bring us back for another round.
Great Improvement!
Played several times over the last 6 months with construction and upgrades. laid of for a couple months to see if the upgrades would take effect. The answer is YES!!! Overall wonderful upgrades and improvements, OVERALL! Can't wait to get back after the sodding of #10. Congratulations to the staff for all the hard work and dedication. Hope the price stays reasonable! :-)
Going to be a great course
Played this course with a foursome. After reading some reviews I wasn’t expecting much. This course is definitely worth the money paid to play. After the renovation are finished I think this will be even better.
The only complaint is that they need to spread out tee times I was rushed all day.
This course keeps getting better! Everything was excellent. Greens were great. Fairways s great. Staff was wonderful. Progress is seen everywhere. Having a pool available is a big plus. The new driving range is excellent. I really like this course..and I drive an hour to play it! Best bargain in golf
