Sorry to say but course in not do great shape
Course from tee boxes to greens all need some help. Fairways were very Sparse of any type of grass and the greens were ugly with marks, dents and unrepaired ball marks. The traps were in great shape except there was not a rake to be found around any if them.
Was one of my favorites...
This used to be one of my favorite locale tracks. Me and my buddy went out in the afternoon and got stuck behind a foursome and threesome that had no desire in letting us play through. No ranger anywhere on the course. To make matters worse the teeing areas and greens were in very poor shape. Hole 5 green had a temporary green that we were not notified about that was basically fairway length and unputtable. The rest of the greens had some degree of patchiness to them that would make putting a guessing game. Greens fees were only $31 but even that seemed to be overpriced for the conditions. Hopefully they can get their greens back in order and it’d be nice if a ranger were out (but I understand it was the afternoon). It was just frustrating since it was a course I enjoyed frequenting but will probably stay away for the better part of this year unless I hear it turns around.
PACE OF PLAY
The staff seemed super concerned about pace of play and seemed extremely organized.. But once we got out there, it was a nightmare.. Good for them I guess.. super busy day, had to be a great day for the course... but 6 hours to play 18 holes.. at that point, as a golf course operator, you have totally given up.. ill tolerate 5 hours on the weekend because I get it.. Its busy.. but 6?? Insane
Course was good though.. Greens seemed slower than in years past.. But the course/layout are always great.
The course has a lot of good holes, especially the par fives. The greens were in nice shape and quicker than most public courses. Overall condition of the course was good, particularly for late in the year. It's a little off the beaten track but definitely worth the drive.
GREAT COURSE
WE HAVE TO DRIVE 45 MILES TO PLAY THIS COURSE AND IT IS WORTH IT EVERY TIME.
Solid course!
Played here for my first time the other day and was pleasantly surprised. The course layout was nice, and it was mostly well maintained. Will definitely be returning. Good value as well.
Slow play
Very slow pace because of numerous outings on the course
Really enjoy the course, but the pace of play could be better. I've played here a few times and always seem to see or catch a backup of golfers. The fariways were a little hard on some holes, but overall they weren't bad.
Keith is awesome at his job as starter and patrolling.
When I arrived at the course, Keith greeted me by name as I walked into the pro shop. It is very impressive customer service and attention to detail for him to know me by name when we never met before. Keith is a professional with the most pleasant personality I have ever experienced. He patrolled the course to keep things moving at a good pace and he went out of his way to make sure every golfer had a good experience. If we could nominate someone for starter of the year, Keith would be a most deserving choice.
conditions good but slow greens.
fairways/rough decent
tee boxes fair only
Great Course ... Great Value !!!
The Links is one of the best courses in Western PA. This is a professionally designed course ... not like many others that just are adapted from a old farm. There was significant rain the night before, so there were a few wet areas ... however the drainage design worked great. It is a bit long from the whites. Greens and tee boxes were in perfect condition. A couple of the fairways had some bare spots, but nothing to complain about. This is one to try.
Worth the Drive Out!
The Links is always a pleasure to play. Its a great layout and is in great shape this year. We pretty much had the course to ourselves.. We wanted food and such at the turn, and possibly dinner after, however restaurant was closed.
But definitely worth the drive. Fairways/Greens/Tees were all in top shape. surrounding rough was great also. Fair from the front tees, but challenging from farther back if you ant it..
good value
I played this course many times over the past three years and enjoy it very much. It's challenging enough but at the same time is fair. People who work here are very friendly and the price is very competitive.
Great condition
Staff were very friendly. Course was in great shape. Used every club in the bag.
EXCELLENT!!!
GREAT COURSE!! NICE LAYOUT!! WELL MAINTAINED !! ALL THE CHALLENGES YOU WOULD WANT IN A GOLF COURSE!!
Saturday afternoon = slow pace of play
Course has an interesting layout with some challenging holes. But the Saturday afternoon pace of play was almost a death march. Almost six hours to play 18. There was actually a six some ahead of us. I might return someday, but I will never come back on a Saturday afternoon.
The course was in EXCELLENT condition. I'd highly recommend playing it at this time of year.
Top 5 Course in Western, PA
I highly recommend this course! I read some of the reviews from last year, and was reluctant to come back. the course is 100% recovered from last years anomoy of heat and no rain. This is one of my favorte layouts. There are elevation holes, tighter holes in the woods and wide open links-type holes. Spring Church may have some of the best and toughest greens for a public course.
