Asked to play each shot off a mat (in March?)
The views from this course are absolutely beautiful in parts. The greens and course in were in excellent condition.
I felt like quite a few of the holes need a map at the tee box - on several holes we had no idea if we were dog leg left or right. On one hole (11th/12th maybe) got down towards the green only to realise there is a stream across the fairway - this was not in view until you were on top of it and it was not clear when taking second shot that it was there (and my ball was of course in it). I think it was the par 5 9th where I had no idea where I was hitting my second shot to.
We were asked to play each shot off a mat which I found extremely frustrating - the course was perfectly dry for this not to be asked. I appreciate in the middle of winter that this might be a reasonable request.
Finally, it is yet another course (and unfortunately, this is right across the sport) desperately in need of a course ranger. We were a 2-ball playing behind a 4-ball and they lost massive ground on the group in front yet did not offer at any stage to let us play through. We could have had 1/2 an hour quicker of a round if they had. There needs to be more signage on the course regarding play to the pace of the group in front and let others through if delaying. Make people think.
I will be back but only in the Summer when being asked to use a mat is not required.
It's a weird one
There are no hole markers . It's incredibly difficult to guess . I don't understand why they can't do put some boards . Also can't see the greens from any of the holes..hilly first 9 . Back 9 is decent. I did not enjoy playing here.
Glorious Greystones
The course as always is in great condition offering you a great challenge to your game with excellent off course facilities.
Great course
Ideal course to play that’s not far from the city.
Greens are smooth & fast. It was a pleasure to play.
5 star Greystones GC
Greystones course was top class. The groundskeepers have it in pristine condition also. Maybe a course map on the scorecard for first timers would be a positive as 2/3 holes our group were unsure where to go. Otherwise Top class.
Surprising gem
This parkland course is surprisingly challenging despite its short (5278m off back tees) length. Well placed hazards make club selection and accuracy off most tees essential. Plenty of elevation changes introduce adjustments to approach shots as well as Par 3 tee-offs. Speedy greens made putting tricky particularly on downhill sliders. Pace of play was excellent, a foursome ahead allowed me through and although playing alone I did not catch the threesome in front over 15 holes. Very walkable, although quite a long distance to and from the back 9 to the clubhouse.. I anticipate scoring better when I play here again, very soon. Great value.
The course could do with the tee boxes indicating the hole your on,
We got a little lost on the back nine.
Poor Markings
Very bad markings from green to next tee box . Missed two holes because of it . 5th and 6th . As far as I can remember .?? . Teenager I pro shop not overly helpfully. Seemed nervous . Maybe in summertime course will be a lot better . They only playing false greens on day we went . Witch consisted of a hole in the fairway . We asked could we come another time and were told in no uncertain manner NO ... other golf courses I booked with you let us change dates if for any reason like frost or bad weather . OLD CONNA did
A Classic Parkland Course
One of my favorite courses in Wicklow right in the middle of Greystones. A beautiful Parkland Course.
Fast smooth greens. (greens are sanded around march / april. Advised to ring the club first to check or else you will not enjoy the greens)
lots of elevation changes on the front 9 with gorse bushes all over the place. (gorse usually means a lost ball)
back 9 is mostly flat with a little water around some greens.
Tricky course to play.
Great Golf course
Loved the golf course was in excellent condition. Very tough but very enjoyable and scenic.
Parkland delight
Lovely parkland course of two halfs. Front nine hilly with great views of greystones, and back nine flatter in trees. Definitely worth playing as kept in lovely condition
Great Golf Course
Great Golf Course, the value was amazing.
Love the new and approved GGC
First time I have played the new front 9 and I really enjoyed the new changes in particular the new holes 4,5 & 6 excellent. The Greens are superb and require all your attention but are a great golfing challenge.
If you have not played GGC get there soon and I am sure you will enjoy your game.
An unexpected gem.
It starts with a tough par 3 over a dip and then 2 excellent par 4's. And then you wind your way up Jones's Hill where the views are stunning. Course consists on 2 different 9s - outward 9 around, up and over the Hill. Inward 9 is tree lined and flat. Both 9's call for accuracy rather than length and negotiating the fairways is a challenge. The greens are excellent, not too tough but in beautiful condition. All in all a gem that's been here since 1895. Go play it.
