Greed
Tee times way to close together. Could finish 9 hole because of waiting on the tee.
Bad layout and bad greens
Plays like an executive course; driver/wedge. Too many twists and turns to fit it within the housing footprint. It would be OK if the greens were any good, they were so long and shaggy it wasn't worth putting them. Recommend the Staff not water the tee boxes (with reclaimed smelly water) when people are playing.
Sporty - surprisingly interesting greens
Having lived in the area for half a dozen years, I hadn't made it to Gator Trace until last week, when on a whim after getting my car serviced, I drove up, paid a very reasonable high-season green fee of $30, and headed out. The Del Boca Vista-like condo complex surrounding the course didn't exactly bode well for my expectations, which were already pretty low.
Nevertheless, I had a very enjoyable time and appreciated the course, warts and all. The routing (uneven) and corridors (often 10 yards too tight; the land was better-suited to a 5,000-yarder than a somewhat shoehorned 6,000-yarder) are compromised by the real estate and the course wasn't in great shape, but a surprisingly fun set of greens saved it for me. A highlight was the green of the long, straightaway par-4 7th, perched across a canal with an abrupt fall-off into short grass on the left and a series of wavy mounds dominating the right half of the green. A neat feature, and a reminder that even somewhat pedestrian golf courses have plenty of enjoyable qualities if you look with a generous eye.
Surprisingly good golf course.
At this time of year, rates become more reasonable, but the prices here are not at all indicative of the quality of this golf course. It is short, with a par 70, but with water on every hole and lots of challenges. This is an older style course but is well maintained and just a lot of fun to play. We have played in this area for several years during April but never gave this course a thought. I would recommend it to both the advanced and beginning players. Just stay out of the water and watch for the alligators.
Loved it!
Tricky but super fun track! Was totally amazed by the the course staff and Bill in the club house for being so friendly. Would definitely go back here and recommend this to anyone. Awesome day for a couple of Minnesotans looking for some scenic holes and great place to play!
Lovely course, great value
Nicely landscaped and well maintained course with very friendly staff. The weather was a bit drizzly so there weren't a lot of players and we finished 18 holes in 2-1/2 hours.
Good Time
1st time playing here; course was packed but the pace of play was pretty good. Nice staff and the course was in very good condition. The price through GolfNow was excellent so I was very happy with the experience.
Gator Trace
very friendly course to play particularly for beginners and intermediate players. The live alligator at the 17th hole was an unexpectedly nice finishing touch to a good round of golf
Gator trace today
Course was wet from all the rain, we played lift clean and place. Fairways had good grass cover, rough is not overly penal.
Greens were a little slower than normal but rolled nicely. If you spray the ball expect to lose some balls. Fun challenging round!
Fun course
Very good condition. Some tight fairways. Greens good. Lots of water.
Great golf
Nice course layout, well kept, will return.
Thanks Gator Trace.
Enjoyable Day of golf
Course was in pretty good shape. It isn't the longest course but could use a variety of clubs. Quite a bit of watrr but doesn't really get in the way too often. The 6-8' gator was interesting to see and watch.
Do not go there alone
we are a couple and we went there hoping be paired with another twosome. The man at the pro shop told us there is n other twosome. But we followed 2 twosomes and 2 twosomes were following us. Everybody was following some foresomes. It takes 5 hours of waiting, and waiting....
At the end, they told us that some members don't like to play with other people ?????
So if you go there, make sure you are a foresome, or you are going to wait a lot.
Gatortrace fun
The course is older. No driving range. And no hole was over 400yrds from the white tee box. It delivered on fun. Water hazards and bunkers and a bevy of Palm trees made this course a challenge. It also delivered on its name, spotting 2 gators. How's that for wild life!
Surprisingly fun layout, very slow but true greens
It was wet but for a short course there are some fun challenging holes with cool back tees in peoples backyards. The greens have fun contours but they run about an 8-9 on the stimp and there's a lot of grain. Uphill putts are slow, downhill down grain putts run out like good greens. Great value. I played in 2 hours which was amazing. I would do it again
Great time
Course is in great condition greens were a little slow but overall had a great time.
A Nice but not Exceptional Course
We Played the White tees. This would be a totally different course from the Blues. The greens need some attention.
Customer Service is Abysmal
The course is as mediocre as they get. Fairways and greens are fine but if you don't hit an ideal shot, you probably won't have a lie at all. I've played it a dozen times because it's close. Don't pay more than $14 if you take the plunge.
GOLFIN GENERAL WARNING: If you aren't 55+, they will treat you like an idiot. I was signing in with the woman in the proshop this morning and she interrupted me to book a member with a group of 5. She signed him in and proceeded to chat in front of me. All I had to do was pay and I would have been out of her hair.
I walked out right then and I will never play there again.
