Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club - Lost Gold Course

About
The Lost Gold Course at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club stays true to the club's name with a layout that snakes across the desert landscape of the Superstition Mountains. It is one of two golf courses at the club designed by Jack Nicklaus and his sons, the other being the harmoniously named Prospector Course. Both golf courses have the signature risk-and-reward design that is a Nicklaus trademark. The Lost Gold Course has strategic bunker placements and smaller greens of the two courses, giving it a higher shot value. The links-style design features generous fairways and water hazards that come into play on a few holes.

challenging
Beautiful course but very changeling for the not so longer of a hitter but fun
very nice layout
very nice course and got a great deal on golf now. would return soon if the price was right.
1st class facility
great facility unfrtunate it won't be available to the public any longer.
Service from bag drop to end of round was excellent! Pros shop staff was accommodating and friendly!
Facility and golf golf course were top notch! Greens were best we played on in Phoenix! Pro Shop staff were helpful and especially Mark Atchinson helped made our experience great!
I would recommend this course to anyone of any level!
Looking forward to playing Superstition Mt. again soon!
One of my favorite Arizona golf destinations!
All you need to know is.....if you haven't played here....you are missing out on two beautifully laid out golf course in a magnificent setting and if that isn't enough, the service is impeccable.
Outstanding Course
I have played this course several times over the past few years - it is always a treat. The course, as usual, is in perfect shape. The rangers did a great job of maintaining pace, never had to wait and never felt pressured.
Nice track
This is a nice course that is very well maintained. Layout is not spectacular but worth playing if the price is under$100. Reminds me of a flatter version of Gold Canyon Dinosaur. Alot of courses in the area that are of the same design style.
Great views, beautifully kept course
We played after three days of rain. The course was in great shape, it has great drainage, so no pools of water on the fairways at all! Lots of sand traps, so brush up on your sand wedge. Staff was very helpful and attentive.
Awesome
Best golf course I played during my stay in Phoenix. Fairways and greens were in pristine condition. Very scenic with the Superstition Mountains in the background.
Pace of play was great.
Outstanding, play every time we are in area!!!
Great course, always in good or excellent condition. Friendly staff, super club house. Wish they would let visitors walk as they do their members.
A must play golf course
It is a well manicured golf course, with excellent view of Superstition Mountains throughout. The bunkers are well placed on fairways and near the greens.
Challenging but fair.
Situated at base of superstition mountains with fabulous views on every hole. Inaccurate shots will trap you in the bunkers but accuracy will reward you with a good score.
great track
Course was delightful! pro shop a little stuffy. Great time, would become a member if people would talk to you. But thet seems to be reserved for members.
Beautiful course
The good:
-second day out of over seeding and this course was amazing
-very well laid out course
-ice and bottled water every other hole it seemed
-variety of holes was great
-mountain views were amazing
-great clubhouse/restaurant
The not so good:
-cart path only and we walked more than I do when I walk a course
-driving range was closed
Some holes, there seemed to be 2 possible greens to shoot for
-and of course, it's a bit of a drive
Otherwise, great time!
Gotta play before it's too late
We played the Lost Gold course and it was transitioning from summer to winter conditions and was still in great shape. Superstition Mountain is going back to a Private Club beginning next year. If you haven't played here it is a MUST play while you still can. Best greens in PHX!
Excellent value for the money
My only criticism was that the range was closed. I arrived early to warm up and was informed at that time the range was closed. An indication that this was the case would have been appreciated ahead of time.
Beautiful setting...challenging golf!!
First class operation from arrival to departure...beautiful setting and really good golf challenge. Tee block options can give all skill levels a big challenge as you would expect from a Nicklaus design. Really enjoyed the outing.
Not too private
Had a great time playing this course. Unfortunately the putting green and driving range was closed to the public. The members were all set and we sat there watching them warm up.
Once playing, things were awesome and the course was in good shape.
One of the best if not the best that I have played here or in Fl
The course was in great shape. Free bottled water was available at several stations around the course. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Course great, some staff a bit stuffy.
Great course, lots of variety of holes, wide fairways with emphasis on shots into greens. Early Sept conditions with slow but smooth greens. It is a private course so be prepared for some starchy rules.
