FireRock Country Club

About
The championship course at the exclusive Firerock Country Club was the first private golf course in Fountain Hills. Offering majestic views of the Superstition Mountains, the Mazatzals, and the McDowells, the course is a scenic and challenging golfing destination. Its mountainous terrain combined with the beautiful landscape of the Sonoran Desert, creates dramatic elevation changes and deep canyon washes. Two notable holes of the course are the par-3 second hole and the par-4 15th hole, which are both quite lengthy. The 2nd hole plays into the wind and has a large, undulating green with a large grass bunker protecting it to the right. The 15th requires a precise tee-shot to the left of the fairway and then followed by a long approach shot. Water on the left and bunkers to the right protect the green.

Stunning views and a fun-forward redesign
FireRock was a solid East-Valley private course before, but its recent redesign - focused on the bunkering and the greens - shows how much improvement can be found in amping up the sense of variety and strategy near the cup on practically any course. The course grabs golfers by the collar on the 3rd tee, which affords an incredible view south and west over Scottsdale and Phoenix, and scarcely lets go the rest of the way. It's not too tough a test, but there's plenty of challenge and variety. Lack of walkability aside, I came away feeling like I would be glad to have FireRock as my home course.
If you can get on this track DO IT!
Shop and on course personnel are very nice and accommodating. Beautiful views and very nice conditions. Will try to play here again.
