Friendliest course ever!
I loved the experience. First time there and was playing by myself, so a few holes were hard to navigate without local knowledge (especially hole 17!). Easy course to get to from Galway. I recommend it without hesitation.
A little too rough conditions
Staff was very friendly and helpful upon check in. Course is an interesting layout although a little too unorthodox for our taste. Strange OB on a short par 5. Course was quite wet and soft but as we are not familiar with this areas climate this may have just been typical for this time of year. Fairways, bunkers, tee boxes all seemed to need a little more maintenance but the greens were in pretty decent shape.
Great Experience
Played on 9/3/23. Easy course to walk with nice views. Layout is challenging but fair. Course was overall in fine shape. Greens were plugged but we were told that in advance and the fee was discounted. Holes 15 & 16 were the most challenging, tight with blind shots. The rental equipment needs updating (clubs and carts). Our rental clubs were mixed bags (literally), but sufficed. Friendly staff always ready to help. Overall a great experience and a good value.
Interesting & a bit wild course
Fantastic clubhouse overlooking the sea and course incredible views. Very friendly staff in pro shop and greenkeeper stopped for a chat about politics incredibly friendly. Course was a bit linksy, quite difficult . Layout was fine. Play was a little slow on the day we were there but no problem. We hired a buggy but not really needed. Greens were 4*. Would definitely play again.
Challenging but interesting course
A nice brisk morning turned into a pleasant day. The course was in very good condition considering we were in January. Tee Boxes clearly marked, All greens in use, beautiful surroundings.
Nice interesting course
Nice course to play, plenty to keep you interested. Pro Geoff was very helpful, fairways and greens were in pretty good nick for January, bit damp under foot in spots and some maintenance work going on which temporarily closed a few holes. The last five holes are tough, fairly blind dog legs and plenty of hairy rough. Would play again, scenery was really nice, lots of mountain, lakes and heather.
Nice course
Really nice day for golf. Course in pretty good shape for time of year. Fairly soft off the fairway, so lost a few balls; they were just off, but plugged and very difficult to find. Impressed with the greens. Fairways were generally very good and they do seem to be doing a bit of work in the course.
Negatives;
Met 4-5 people in clubhouse, including pro shop, and none of them were wearing masks.
Given the course layout, there is a lot of opportunity to skip holes. We had people cut in front of us three times; including a very slow single who waited 5 minutes for the green to clear for his second shot into a par 5. Three shots later and he still wasn’t on the green. But I guess that is not a fault of the course/club.
Overall, I really enjoyed playing the course for the time of year. Will definitely play again in the summer if I get a chance. Would recommend a visit, but check the layout beforehand as some shots are blind. You’ll enjoy.
This course is a holy show
Ahhh stop I don’t know where to start..you can’t hit driver anywhere..short irons off the tee and long irons into the greens..the course is backwards..badly layed out..all in all I can say I will never ever return
Tricky Layout. Lovely views of Galway Bay
Tricky Layout. Not taking driver off many tees. Summer golf so greens were firm and fast. Need to be below the hole. Pin flag colours indicate front, middle or back. Some spectacular vistas. View from 16th tee class. Recommended.
