Verde River Golf & Social Club

About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

Great as Usual!
Played this track on Sunday and it was in great shape for this time of year. Greens were very lush and rolled perfect. The guys in the shop (Charlie and Paul) were top notch as well! I highly recommend playing this before it goes full private!
TERRIBLE!
save your money. the greens are worst i have ever seen.
Perfect as Always!
Played Verde River on Wednesday afternoon and it was unbelievable like usual! The staff is so friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape as many others in the area are transitioning to the summer Bermuda grass. The greens here are some of the absolute best in the valley. I highly recommend playing this before its to late!
It doesn't get slower
5+ hour round. No rangering - members turtled around without consideration for daily fee players. Rumor has it that the course is going private. It can't happen too soon, so the members can then stretch a round to 6 hours. A good course is wasted on sloths.
Perfect conditions
Played Verde river golf and social club yesterday. There wasn’t a blade of grass out of place. Fantastic conditions with pure and fast greens. Maybe the. Best greens I have ever putted on. Highly recommend playing this gem before it is totally private. Also the views are fantastic.
Unbelievable Conditions!
I played the course yesterday and it was in unbelievable shape! Overseed turned out amazing! The greens at this course are some of the best in the entire Phoenix Valley. I highly recommend going to see for yourself before they transition to a private club!
Great day!
Played this course on a Monday 10am start time. The course was in fantastic shape and the staff was very friendly. The pace of play was perfect (finished in about 4:10hrs) and the Marshal was attentive to ensure we were never held up. Greens were fast, but that is due to time of year we played. The course was easy-moderate, but best if you can stay in bounds. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nice beer along the pool-side, and made for a great day.
Great day at Verde
Verde River was on day 3 of a 4 day trip to the east valley..and it did not disappoint. The course was in AMAZING condition! Greens were fast and firm, the fairways and tee boxes were in perfect shape...we were not disappointed with anything about our experience. Definite MUST PLAY if you are out there.
Best value in Scottsdale
I will be very sad the day this course goes Private. I play weekly and I feel this is the best value of any course in the valley. I have played it 4 times since overseed Oct 2019 and it dazzles every time. The course was perfect on my latest visit 2/15. Greens rolling fast at about a 12. The grass is perfectly manicured. The course is literally perfect.
Fantastic property
The environment and staff is second to none. The course is amazing, perfect shape, not a blade of grass out of place.
Beautiful course layout and scenic desert beauty
This course was our favorite! It was beautifully manicured and the beauty of the desert was woven into every hole. It was challenging but fair. We will golf here on each of our trips to the area.
Great desert setting
Verde River is a fun course in the Rio Verde area; great mountain backdrops abound and the course conditions were impeccable.
The layout is great, wide, fun and the desert areas are clean and manicured.
Possible improvements: a few more elevation changes and/or elevated teeboxes so we can see more of the mountains around. Also a few holes (notably 18) could use more distance markers.
Worth the detour if you get the change to play it!
Another Beautiful Course
I'm falling in love with this course.
It's beautiful and challenging. The roughs aren't so rough that I can't go find a ball (which is nice because lost balls add up to $$)
The course was in overseed mode, making the fairways and greens a bit sticky. Which meant not much rolling taking place.
I do wish the food and beverage cart had more food to offer. The protein box (hard-boiled egg, slices of salami, little blocks of cheese and some pistachios) didn't cut it. Ordering from the bar doesn't work when you're only playing 9 holes.
EXCELLENT CONDITIONS!
I played Verde River on June 29th and it was in unbelievable shape! The clubhouse is amazing and the staff treats everyone like a member. Great layout as well! This place is VERY underrated in the Phoenix area and I would recommend to all!
First time at Verde River will not be the last!!
Very impressed!! The facility is top shelf from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly, especially considering we were guests at a semi-private club. The course was fantastic in all regards - layout, design, conditioning, and scenery. This course is a little more forgiving off of the tee than say Troon or Quintero, but that maybe even added to the appeal as we did not spend much time looking for balls. We teed as a twosome at 8:30 and never saw another group all day. The greens were fantastic and the bunkers in awesome shape. This is a premium course without the premium price tag. Play it while you can before it becomes fullly Private.
Good Golf Course
very nice golf course, pro shop staff very nice, beverage cart also very nice, greens in good shape and tee boxes also in good shape as with desert(phoenix/tucson) courses this time of year some patchy places due to the turnover from the overseed to the summer, bermunda grass, and overwatering to keep it green bur over not in bad shape for the price
Great staff, nice course
Verde River is off the beaten path, but truly worth it! This course is about 10 miles East of Troon nestled in the Trilogy at Verde River community.
The second you arrive, the friendliness of the staff was welcoming. Born and raised in NYC, coming out here is truly refreshing.
I was the first tee time at 6:40am and was paired up with 2 Arizonians who were great. I need to rent clubs and was supplied with Titleist AP1 irons and 917 woods. The outlay of the course was amazing. From tee to green everything was pristine. This course has gone through a number of name and layout changes. This Tom Lehman redesign is great. Though there is a lot of construction going on (houses being built on the course, not on the weekends), the course was in great shape.
Even though it was a little bit of a hike for me, I will definitely come back!
Enjoyable Golf Experience
This golf course layout is not amazing (eg top 200 worthy), but everything else about it is fantastic.
The layout is approachable and scorable, the conditioning is amazing, amenties are great, and the pace is typically good. I was able to get a rate of 70-80 as a single both times I played recently, which I thought was good value for an AM round in peak season.
Verde River Must Play!
Wow..our foursome was very impressed with Verde River. The greens were in excellent shape, by far the best we played in the east valley. The layout was challenging yet very fair and very fun. the views are second to none and yes you have to drive a little ways out to play it but it was worth every penny. highly recommend
New clubhouse, new vibe at Verde River
Although the general public won't get full access to the new clubhouse facility that opened in mid-January, they will get to use enough of it to enjoy it. It's a beautiful facility that's a great addition to a solid golf course that's been operating under three different names in a decade since opening.
The greens were the best of the four courses I played on my most recent trip to Scottsdale. That's saying something, considering I played the Stadium course at TPC Scottsdale less than a month before the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Construction sounds - trucks, hammers, etc. - sometimes intrudes on the Verde River experience, but for the most part, the new homes that have been built or are being built are far enough away not to bother golfers or block the views of the surrounding mountains.
Hi Jason! Thanks so much for the great review - just checking in to let you know that from January 31st, Alvea Spa and Wellness, and Needle Rock Kitchen and Tap warmly welcome all public guests. We hope to see you soon!
