Championship at Hillcrest Golf Club

Wow, what a disappointment. At one time this place was a very nice public golf course. Not anymore. It's closing at the end of June 2016. There is fungus on the greens (!). There is crabgrass in the middle of the fairway. My drives were bouncing 50+ yards due to lack of water. It's a goat track. While it's only $50 I was incredibly bummed out and felt I wasted an entire day on this pathetic course. Do yourself a favor and go to any one of the other well maintained public tracks in North Miami.

Don't worry about playing this course.. The City of Hollywood is closing it to build more houses.. Just what the area needs.. This was one of the best public courses for many years and it is painful to see it in such a rundown state and as of June 30th will cease to exist..

Driving range hitting area not in very good shape. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Fairways need some weed control and the greens had many dead grass areas on them. Pace of play on the first seven holes was good but after that it was horrible, there was a fivesome in front of us and this was on a weekend, no marshals in site anywhere but there was a beverage cart. We finally got tired of waiting and left after 12 holes. The reason we played here was because it had a three and a half rating but I would put it about two stars.

I have enjoyed playing at this course for the past 4 years, however, the recent round I played there was not very enjoyable. I guess there is some question as to whether the course is going to be sold and shut down. Some of the greens have big black blotches on them that interfere with the rolling of the ball. With the price that is being charged, it is not a good value. Golfers should be told of the condition of the greens ahead of time so they can decide if they want to play there or not.

Extremely slow play, six hour round with no course Rangers. Course is in very poor condition with large clumps of crab grass all over the fairways. Greens had large sections of dead grass and big patches of dirt. Staff was very unfriendly and very unprofessional. Lunch took over an hour to fix simple sandwiches and then the food was cold and poor quality. Apparently the course is closing and will be converted to a housing development so everything has been let go and the staff no longer cares. Do not waste your time or money at this course.

Good layout. Poor fairways. Pace of play was very slow. Greens were above average. Looked like fairways were just starting to grow in, but crab grass is taking over,

some are saying its in bad condition and its closing in June.

the closing part is true...but the course was in fine condition...we've played in many times and this was not far off from all the other times

Course plays shorter than listed (and in fact IS shorter than listed). Early in the season so greens weren't in best of shape. Staff was awesome. Bunkers were in HORRIBLE condition! Overall, not a bad play for the money.

1st time playing the course. It's refreshing for S. FL, in that albeit quite challenging, it's not because there's water water, everywhere. This course has some changes in elevation. with many doglegs; both right and left; the ability to shape your shots off the tee is beneficial. Tee boxes and fairways where less than stellar but still well maintained and sand in traps was predictable. The finishing hole provides a small Island green after a nearly 90 degree dogleg left; nice.

I played this course for the first time in 2014 and had a great time.

After two years, went back to a totally different course, due to lack of adequate maintenance.

Very sad to see a course that used to be nice and fun to play, completely abandoned and in terrible condition.

The course is closing in June, so they have left it in a bit of disrepair. Fairways are spotty and greens could use some love. Layout seems like it would have been a good course to play, and the staff was very friendly and accomodating

The course has a very fun layout, water in several places that makes it fun. The greens don't look that nice but they actually are true and are true. Great place for the value. Only downside to me was a group of very slow out of the country foursome who has no gold ethic and took over 15 minutes on each hole and stopped at every puddle to get they're ball retriever and waste time while holding us up and the group behind me which teed off well over 30 minutes past us. I teed off at 7:30 and was done at 12 after skipping the slowsome in a par 3.

Course is in pretty good shape and priced well for the area. Some greens are a little more run down than others but overall they run pretty true. Amenities aren't the greatest but the golf course is what you go for and its always a fun experience.

Heard course was closing down to build condos. Used to be a great course. Staff said they aerated week before, but fairways were full of weeds and dead grass, greens were brown or compact dirt with dead grass. Cost $52 to play on Saturday at 1pm, could of played 6 courses in area for same or less in a lot better shape. Extremely disappointed.

The course is closing in June so they are NOT spending any money on upkeep it would appear, however, they were aerating brown greens during play without shutting down their machines

Nice little course in good shape, the greens look an ugly brownish color but are true and a nice test.

Greens terrible! Pace of play very slow because no personnel on the course except cart girl.
Staff very frustrated because of speculation of being developed in to condos. Can't charge these rates if in such dismal shape.
