Coyote Preserve Golf Club

About
Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton is one of the only courses in the area designed by Arnold Palmer. The course has a hilly terrain that provides plenty of elevation changes a well as stunning views. Tumbling across deep ravines and native wetlands, the layout requires many carries over dramatic depressions and water hazards but many are seemingly intimidating but actually quite reasonable. Massive, finely sculpted bunkers strategically frame the greensides of many holes. While some of them are manageable, others are deep and sod-faced. The tricky hazards in conjunction with the dramatic elevations demand both accuracy and creative shot-making. The golf course has a memorable finish with a par-5, risk-reward hole. There is ample room off the tee on this downhill, dogleg left hole and it presents a few different options for the second shot. With some thought, scoring par is definitely a possibility.

Fall Conditions
Lots of leaves everywhere. Way more than any other course I've played recently. Greens had not been cut for a long time. Maybe a 5 or 6 on stimp. Cups were terrible too. But hey it's fall golf in Michigan. But worse out of all that we have played in October and November.
What a place
I’ve been around this course for a long time and I believe it is an amazing course not only because of its beauty and scenery, but because of its quality and its challenging design
Great Hidden Gem
I get the opportunity to play a lot of different courses because of travel. This is one of those courses I will go back to when I am on that side of the state! It’s a fun course that challenges you! The conditions from tee box to green were top notch considering the price we paid and their weekend price!
Only downfall is those that are members who felt like they owned the course and slowed the pace down. I was play 2 man scramble with 3 others from work and we got hung up on every shot waiting for the group in front and without them letting us play through which there were way to many chances to allow us to.
However overall great course, will be back, great staff and highly recommend!
Nice Track
Enjoyed 18 holes on a hot day with my buddies. We all enjoyed the course...I would highly recommend. From parking lot to the club house to the course...great staff all the way around.
First time golfing Coyote Preserve. Nothing bad to say about the course or its staff. Great overall experience
Interesting elevation changes
Course ran tee times on 10 minute intervals and most of the tee times were not booked so we figured we would give it a shot. The round ended up taking 4 hours and 45 minutes. The front 9 was 2.5 hours due to slow foursomes. There was no cart GPS to alert people that they were behind pace, and no rangers enforcing pace of play. We were allowed to play through at the turn, but ended up running into more slow foursomes on the back. This was a weekday morning, it should not be this slow (especially at this price point). Every tee box we were waiting.
Staff was very friendly. The layout was target golf. The Par 3's were challenging with elevation changes. Lots of doglegs. Need accuracy off the tee and solid iron play. Greens had tons of bunkers around them. Several blind shots. Lots of sloped fairways that you have to play into. This is not an easy course. Lots of bugs on the course - the course is surrounded by woods and marsh.
Course was in fantastic condition. But they cheap out on so many things. No ball washers on the course. No water on the course. Water at the turn is a pitcher at the bar instead of a fountain to fill up bottles. No GPS in the carts. Drink cart didn't find us until the 18th fairway. There's a great bar and grill at the turn but no menu in the cart or number posted to call in advance.
Rangers were a pain
I golfed with two senior men and another man that is 64 years old. Behind us were groups of 3 on the first nine then groups of 2. We started at 12:50 and finished at 5:30. The groups behind us on the second 9 complained that we were slow and the rangers approached us every other hole to pick up the pace. This ruined what could have been an excellent day on the course. So sorry we took a extra 10 minutes to golf 18!
