The Colonial Golf Course

About
Colonial Golf Course is one of western Michigan's most popular courses. There is a total of 27 holes available, consisting of the championship 18-hole course and the nine-hole, par-3 Heritage Course. The 18-hole course is 6,859 yards from the back tees. The holes are mostly straightforward but beware of some tricky doglegs. The golf course begins with a particularly tricky one. There is a mix of short and long holes, offering plenty of variety throughout. You may find that you have to use all the clubs in your bag. Strategically placed bunkers fiercely guard the greens, demanding accurate shot placement and careful course management. The other course at Colonial, the Heritage Course, is a great option for beginners and juniors. Besides the two courses, there is also a 12-acre driving range available.

Great course
I played the course for my first time while on vacation. I was very impressed with the condition of the course. The tee boxes were like plush carpet and the greenS were fast but true. It is not a very difficult course but it was enjoyable to play. The value for the price is exceptional.. I will play this course again whenever I am back home for a visit.
Great condition!
Great value. Fantastic conditions. Fairly long but not a super challenging course. I will play here more often.
Course has a Big Problem with GolfNow
Manager stated he will no longer honor reservations made thru GolfNow/GolfPass. He tried to charge me again even though I prepaid with GolfPass. I refused to pay and he still let me and my partner pay. Manager states the course has been mistreated by GolfNow and will not honor reservations made thru GolfPass. Golfers beware! I showed the manager that his course is still be advertising on GolfNow...he didn’t care....big problems brewing at Colonial.
COURSE DOES NOT HONOR GOLFNOW TEE TIMES
This course will no longer accept golfnow tee times. After I booked the round and paid the full prices on my credit card, I received a voicemail from the course. The man stated that my tee time was no good and I needed to contact GolfNow to get my money back. When I called him back, he didn't seem concerned at all that there are a lot of tee times on the site for their course. Made it sound like it was my fault for booking it. He wouldn't work with me on price, and didn't seem to even want my group to show up. It's too bad, since we all liked the course. We will not be back.
Weather has been terrible here this spring but the course was in great shape. I would recommend playing here and then stopping at Big Hart Brewery which is less than a mile from the course
Hidden gem
My wife and i played here this morning and three course was in excellent shape. The greens were true, the fairways were in great shape and the staff was a very nice gentleman. Highly recommend.
Easy drive
Easy drive to Hart and this Golf course and its a beautiful place. It has a great staff and they are all very friendly. Again if the drive seems like it is to long it is not. I left Muskegon and was there in less than a half hour. In fact the drive there and back were the two best drives of the day.
Best course in West Michigan
This course is a hidden gem just off of 31. For what you pay the playing conditions cannot be better. The overall aesthetics of the course aren’t going to be in line with a golf resort like garlands or manistee, you’ll see brush piles off in the fescue areas between holes, and there is freeway noise most audible on most of the holes. but all of the areas in play are in top notch condition. If you land in fairway or even in the rough you really will not have a bad lie or have to hit off of crud. The fairways are in excellent shape and the greens are guarded by well maintained aprons. Every bunker has a perfectly manicured lip and the sand is nice and soft. You cannot play a better course in West Michigan, in my opinion for the money. There are courses that charge much more for a lot less as far as conditions and playability. I played at 1 in the afternoon so I got in after the morning rush and was out before leagues. I played 18 solo in just over 3hours, did have to play through a 2-some when making the turn. I also happened to shoot one of the better rounds I have ever shot, so that always leaves an impression too.
Great test of golf. Fantastic layout. You will use all your clubs. Parking lot set up sucks.
Hot day on the course
It was very warm, but the breeze helped and the course itself is in very good shape.
What you want...
Excellent Greens. I mean EXCELLENT. Very good price. Good, not great, holes/design. It's a fair course that's pretty difficult, especially the back nine. The best course near Silver Lake.
A great afternoon of golf!
I’ve played here many times in the last several years and have never been disappointed. The staff is always friendly and the course in excellent condition whether it be early or late in the season. This round I was impressed again at the near flawless quality of the greens and great conditions of the fairways and, yes, even the bunkers and sand traps. I will be back again soon.
