Very Bad Business
Paid premium price for a weekend 9 ($38), booked the longer and more challenging “Black” course yesterday. Showed up today, confirmed tee time and track, and paid. Get out to the starter, and was sent out on the least desirable and extremely short “Gold” track…. Each hole was over-measured by 80-100 yards, and played the entire round in less than 90 minutes - and we’re not scratch golfers to say the least. Politely approached the attendant at the clubhouse and explained the situation after our “round”. We play at least a round per week, and this was our first visit. I was very polite and reasonable, and simply asked to be rain checked for a few holes to come back and get what we paid for. The older gentleman working the counter flatly denied our request, and stated this was “common practice” and that he wouldn’t be doing anything to make it right. After 1-2 minutes of calm and polite back and forth, we told the elderly gentleman to forget it and just left. I will never return to this course, and don’t recommend it to anybody else. $38 is steep even for a weekend 9 to begin with, but when the “gold” track is over measured by darn near 1000 yards and you intentionally booked another track because of it, then get bait-and-switched on zero notice… that is extremely shady and the unwillingness to do anything to make it right is the reason for this review. First and last trip to Sable Creek, don’t waste your money or time!!!!!
27 Hole Course
Played all 27 holes Gold is the shortest and Red and Maroon are typical lengths for 9 holes. I didn’t have a problem with either of the 9s and enjoyed all of them.
Disrespectfull
First off 12 of us came out to play to find out they had our tee time wrong , We had a 7:15 and they said it was 9:15 . Tried to show the owner an email confirmation that it was indeed a 7:15 . He wasnt interested in looking at it. An argument pursued and I cant say I think it should have gone that far and I kept quiet. He said he would figure something out so we played their maroon course and then went to the gold course. The gold course being the less desirable of the three. This was the topper for me,,,I went out to put my clubs on the cart and asked the starter if the pin location on their board was correct. He looked at me and pointed to the sign and said "Thats what it says" Now we just went through a bunch of stuff in ther club house and this wise guy said that. I have played here many times anfd on one or more ocassion the sign was not correct for pin location. Thats why I asked. He simply could have said yes that is correct pin placement. Why the smart *** coment ?We were at the practice green still talking about the cocky attitude of all people representing the course when a guy not in our group over heard us. He said they always treat him disrepectfull as well. So if you dont mind paying premium price to be treated like crap go ahead but there are plenty of other courses that treat you like a customer should be treated.
Playable for all levels
Our group played here for the first time and we have a large range of handicaps in our group. Everyone enjoyed the round. Great pace of play. Well conditioned and fairly wide open. Very fast greens, especially if you hit it in the wrong spot. We will definitely be back!
Fun Place
Sable Creek was in great shape given all the spring rain we've had. The course is relatively flat, and only 2-3 holes wind through some trees. The rest of the holes are open, with some ponds and sand placed to provide some protection on the holes. I can see this playing far more difficult on a windy day. Everything was well maintained though the greens were slower than expected. I will make the trip to play again.
Great shape for early spring
I love all three nines at Sable Creek. Course is always in good condition. Layout is good and fair.
Challenging but fair
Sable Creek is an above average golf course. All 3 sides will challenge you. You can go low if you play smart but you can also shoot well above average if you don't. It's not a short course so you need to be able to play some long irons/hybrids on some of the par 4's as it's often windy. The pro shop has the friendliest staff I have seen at any course in the area. The practice green and driving range are in good shape and not crowded usually. I play here often and bring friends here to play as well.
Top course in the county
Sable Creek is a real gem in our area! Beautiful lay out, nice greens, well manicured. We have golfed here several times over the last few years with many different levels of golfers, and it never disappoints. Excellent pace, 27 holes for a fantastic variety, accommodating and very friendly staff, and a beautiful patio to hang out with friends afterwards. This is our go to course!
Still a Top Notch Course
Course was in great shape. It has been dry in NE Ohio, but the course was very green. Sprinkler system is center line, but they were watering fairway edges and rough with sprinklers on long hoses. Pace of play was very good. We played 18 in 3:40 at a nice leisurely pace.
Lousy managemrn
Great course if you have 7 hours to play 18. tee times stacked on top of each other made it a long day with plenty of angry golfers. This isn't the first ime this happened to us and we wont be back. To bad it could be a nice course.
One of the better courses in the area
Well maintained course. Grass is thick and weed free, cut at great heights fairway and rough. Course for the most part is open, which allows for easy recovery shots most of the time. Three separate nines, I recommend the black and maroon. Black is open, maroon is open except for 8 & 9. The gold is shorter and a little tighter to start out then opens up after the third. Greens rolled very true for late October. Wish it were a little closer to home as I would like to play it more often.
