Great Course
Lovely track with a lot of variety. The tee options and their associated hole layouts offers a challenge to all skill levels.
Easiest of the 3 nines
Probably the easiest of the 3 nines on property. Still very possible to turn a good round into a disaster if you're not paying attention.
Surprising good shape
My parents moved into this community. My first time on the course. this course gets 400 rounds a day in prime season. Fairways are wide and fast, greens are true and you would never know a hurricane came through recently.
Outstanding place to live and play golf
All in all, the facilities at Heritage Bay resemble a resort lifestyle, including bundled golf with a home purchase, pool bar, fitness center, tennis center, and beautiful clubhouse. Annual golf dues are some of the most reasonable among all the bundled courses in Naples. It's really a fabulous place to live and play golf for a majority of the year... in season, it is what it is... really, really BUSY. Too busy and too slow! But it’s pretty much that way for most courses in Naples.
At Heritage Bay, "transfer memberships" for renters have been a source of heavy play. Inexpensive daily fees for these memberships make for very little incentive to take a day off and not play golf... consequently the course does get hammered with play in January, February, and March. We'll hope next year is better with a recent increase in fees for these transfer members.
The lack of rain during the “season” makes keeping the fairways soft very problematic and the heavy play and golf cart traffic is tough on the fairways. Rookie golfers during the "season" with brand new golf shoes drag their feet and often scuff the greens, rarely fix ball marks, and seldom fill divots, and have NO CLUE about pace of play… a very frustrating problem everywhere.
We've had a couple of nice rains in April and as of this last week of April the course is back to its fully lush condition. Fairways are now pristine and greens are soft and hold nicely. The course will be in wonderful shape from now through December.
This course is a cash machine period!
This course was way oversold. They put 400 to 450 people a day on this course. You can imagine how hard this is on the entire course.I have a membership and get to golf maybe 7 times a month. They use the CHELSEA system for tee times which is AWFUL! The greens are super fast and udulating. The average golfer will 3 or 4 putt consistently. Rounds are typically very slow 41/2 to 5 hours. Naples has much better go elsewhere.
First class operation!!
Heritage Bay is a great facility start to finish. Tees, fairways, rough and greens are in superb condition. My only negative comment is that the bunkers could use some more sand. The staff was terrific: friendly, helpful and clearly proud of their wonderful course. And the drink prices from the cart girl and outside bar were very reasonable! I'll be back!
Excellent condition for this time of year
We enjoyed playing the course and was happy there was plenty of space for driving on most of the holes. The greens had some nice undulations, which made putting a bit more of a challenge. But the greens were in great conditions and putted very true. I would recommend this course to anyone that wants to play a course that is not too challenging.
Cypress/oak at Heritage Bay
Full staff available-from cart/bag personnel to proshop staff to starters and rangers were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Course was in great shape, especially the greens, which provide most of the challenge on this course with their undulations and pin placements. Played on a full day, but had no issues with pace of play. Overall, a very enjoyable round of golf.
One of the better courses in the area.
Challenging greens putt fast and true. Course overall a good test of golf. Every hole is different and the tee blocks offer a fair test for everyone.
Addressing the comments of this review... yes, in "season" Heritage Bay is far too busy. During January, February, and March, the tee sheet is pretty full, due to the many renters and the very cheap fees they pay on a transfer membership. This has been adjusted for the 2014 season and we'll see if that helps. Regarding being able to play only 7 times a month because of Chelsea... completely bogus. I play with 12 to 16 guys about 3 to 4 times a week, plus couples on Sundays and other special events. You may not always get the best tee times, but you can play about as often as you want. Regarding the greens... challenging... yes, but they putt very true. Low handicap players feel the greens at HB are outstanding. I play in interclub matches against players from other clubs... they all have praised the greens at HB. Finally... 4 1/2 to 5 hour rounds are not uncommon during "season" at HB. Have to admit... VERY FRUSTRATING for experienced fast players. But slow play during "season" is a problem that exists on most courses in the Naples area. Just the way it is during those 3 months... lots of rookie golfers getting out of the winter weather up north.
