Course Going Downhill
This course used to have GREAT greens. The last 7 or 8 times I have played it the greens were less than good. Also, they don't mow the rough weekly so when you miss the fairway by 2 feet you are in foot deep grass. The group I play with have made a rule that if you can't find your ball and everyone agrees it was not out of bounds you get to drop another ball with no penalty. The pace of play is also a problem. They do not have a ranger so slow play is rampant. I was in a fivesome today and we were waiting 10 minutes on every hole for the foursome in front of us. It is sad.
Top Affordable Course in Town
I have golfed this course at least 50 times as a non-member. I choose to keep coming back here for a number of reasons. They are the only course in town that offers a discount program to non-members to earn more discounts the more they golf. These discounts also extend to their St. Augustine course. The course condition is often above average considering the cost to play comparable to other local public courses. The staff and other golfers are always friendly, and t-times are always a breeze. I am thankful to have a course like this in my area.
Great Club house staff poor course condition
Staff is friendly and great. Green are nearly dirt, torn up with dry Green paint to make them appear Green. Green collars are as burnt down to green levels. Fairways and rough are the same length. Most of the bunkers are just mud or hard pan. This used to be a nice course, but has gone to crap due to lack of knowledgeable head greens keeper.
Nice track!
Well maintained nice to see healthy fairways & slick greens. Pleasant, non threatening layout with ample water holes ideal for B and C golfers but enjoyable for all.
Suggestions for the course and GM
Course is in great shape, with one exception, majority of your roughs haven't seen the blade of a mower in months. So if you hit your tee shot to into the rough well let's say you really had look hard and good to locate it.. Your greens are in better shape then the last course I played, fairways are in great shape as well. But really need to get some guys out there and mow the rough down.
For the GM or who's in charge your might want to think about getting your course a beverage cart. You would bring up your sales of beer, Poweraide, and water and other things in a heart beat. Plus it would stop golfers from bring there own beer on to the course.
Great course, but.....
Played today, course was good. Greens are the best in town. But, we play here sometimes 5-6 times a week with large groups, spending thousands of dollars. The manager has zero people skills and has a chip on his shoulder from being beat on call of duty every night by a bunch of teenagers who apparently bully him.Every single staff member is awesome except this one guy. He makes being in the clubhouse unpleasant.
IT WAS GOOD, ONCE
The course is in terrible condition with poor drainage. The greens are almost down to dirt with uneven aprons & divot marks causing putt path interference. Made comments to Capstone Golf, Inc about condition of course via email only to be told by the General Manager “if you don’t like it go elsewhere” when I answered back about his poor customer satisfaction attitude he wrote back that he was DELETING my customer rewards account.
This course was good a few years ago, now a “cookie cutter” community is being built on both sides with construction vehicles cutting through some of the fairways leaving muddy dirt paths in its wake.
So if you want play a terrible course with construction vehicles driving across the fairways topped off by nasty management then CAPSTONE GOLF, GRAND RESERVE IS THE PLACE TO BE.
Easy course at a great price but VERY wet conditions
Course is a fairly simple and relatively short layout. Lots of room off the tees, especially on the par 5’s. Quiet setting with about half the holes bordered by housing and half without. Greens were in good shape but the rest of the course was very wet, several fairways were mushy and every bunker was filled with water. Rough had been cut a few days ago but clippings left out and the grass underneath was turning yellow. Wet conditions on fairways and tee boxes are not the courses fault, but the condition of the bunkers and the left grass clippings reflect poor grounds keeping. We did have a weird exchange with a resident on the 14th fairway. He yelled at us from his back porch trying to sell us 2 hour blackjack lessons for $200 & I got the impression he was doing that to everybody. It was really strange. Clubhouse staff barely cracked a smile and we never saw a ranger once during our round. Maybe all these issues are because it’s summer and off season, but they could tighten thing up to improve things a bita round, maybe that’s all you get.
Good condition
Course in good condition. Quiet setting considering the lack of housing development (only 6 homes were developed). Good value.
Good course
Course in good condition. Good pace of play. Would reccomend.
I love this course.
I've play'ed this couse a few time and it has alway been in great shape. The greens roll TRUE, with a few unseen breaks which makes if challenging.
