Goodg
Played here over pre-Covid and I recall the course being in better shape. Dry spots throughout the course but in a “spotty” fashion. I thought greens were in excellent shape. Value was outstanding considering it was the weekend.
Should have walking rates
Showed up to play and learnt it was Cart Path Only, so decided to walk. But there is no break in price because of walking. Its probably because its located in a retirement community and no one expects to walk this course. Its not an easy walk with a few fairly long green-to-tee walks. At the end of the round, I had put in about 18k steps (8 miles approx). This is the harder of the 2 courses - with strategic tee-shots required for most holes. Driver isnt always the option because of strategic bunkers, doglegs, hazards getting in the way. Greens are fair. Make sure you play a yardage that you are comfortable with. Winds can pick up and make the round even more challenging.
Not really worth the price
I used to play this course all the time (3-4 times/month) years ago, but stopped when they began raising prices without improving the overall experience. Decided to give it another chance. Played a few days after heavy rains, so it was cart path only. Not unexpected. However, the course is not in very good shape, ignoring the muddiness, the fairways have bare spots and patchy coverage. Seems like there's crabgrass and other "clumpy" grass instead of normal "smooth" grass, if that makes sense. Greens were decent, not fast, but smooth enough.
They had a tournament that ran late, so we were delayed 20 minutes to tee off. That, along with overall slow play, meant we finished 18 in near darkness, hitting the ball and hoping to find it in the general direction. Never saw a marshall to help with the pace. Also no drink cart, especially problematic because this course doesn't loop around to the clubhouse after 9 holes. Disappointing overall experience.
Not in great shape
Generally I like this course, but it is in poor shape right now. Fairways are mostly dormant/dead and the rough is being aerated. It is a nice layout so when the weather improves in the spring it will be worth it again.
Nice winter golf
To play in January this course was great Most of the fairways are nice for January. The course is very playable, not super challenging. The greens rolled very well. I really enjoyed the round
Distance markers
Played the Orchard course for first time. The course does not have enough distance markers. Carts don’t have GPS distance App.
Love this course
Had another great round at Lincoln Hills. The pace of play was bad, but only because there wasa tournament ahead of us. There were a lot of non golfers golfing. Lol.
Beyond that, the staff is the best. The course is always in great condition, even after a summer of brutal sacramento heat.
One of my faves for sure
Fun course with some course condition issues
Everything was great about our round from value to weather to pace of play. The only issue I had was there are a lot of fairways that need attention. Weed issues and patchy grasses. The bunker replacements need a lot of work. Also appears that no one who plays this course knows how to repair a ball mark. Whoever plays here frequently should show a little more respect for the course.
Course Needs Better Maintenance
Fairways except for the last three holes had crabgrass patches, long unmowed grass near some greens, many bare spots, and unraked bunkers. The final three holes had well-maintained fairways. It felt like I was playing a different course on the finishing three holes.
Little slow today?
Got to play a fun round with my golf buddy and we had a really nice guy as a third. Play was a little slow greens were tough. One was quick one was slow, etc. not much consistency, the fairways were pretty spongy a lot of weeds in the grass. We obviously need to do some treatment for the weeds. It’s always a good time. Look forward to coming back.
