Royal St. Kitts Golf Club

About
There's much to love about a round at Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, a course reinvented by Canadian Thomas McBroom in 2004. The front nine eases players into the action as wide fairways roll out below colorful homes on the surrounding hillsides. The inspiring back nine kicks into high gear at No. 14, where the oceanfront scenery and golf are as good as it gets in the Caribbean. The two par 3s on the back side are most memorable. The 236-yard 12th might be the toughest hole on the island and the 161-yard 15th the most photogenic.

Nice island course with some seaside holes
Interesting course, back 9 especially. Greens in good condition although a bit slower than we are used to in Canada. Fairways in pretty good shape, a bit dry so lots of roll. Pace of play was excellent finishing in 3.5 hrs. Back 9 has several holes right along the ocean.
Played the Course 6 Times
A Thomas McBroome design that has fallen on more difficult times. Great layout, scenery.
The greens are wonderful, healthy and green. Due to dry conditions, the fairways are sparse at times with a variety of grasses growing. The rough is thick on occasion and presents its challenges. Bunkers need a lot of work.
The staff are courteous, helpful and willing to please wherever possible.
Package discounts are available or GolfNow hot deals for reasonable prices.
Great layout, needs some TLC
The back 9 is very scenic and makes this a worthwhile stop, but this course badly needs some TLC. The greens looked okay, but were slower than the fairways. The rough looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. The sand in the bunkers was nonexistent. I probably would play again if I came back, but I only did so because I got a GolfNow deal. Worth the 80, not worth 150+.
Good value in the Caribbean
I liked this course. This course is like a good municipal course. It's not quite to the usual Caribbean resort course quality but is lower priced accordingly. So a good value. And there's discounts if you play 2, 3, or 4 times, which can make it a great value. Easy to get a tee time. It was well manicured when I was there, so a previous reviewer's comment about tall grass apparently had the desired effect.
Caribbean golf
If you want to get out and swing it is beautiful layout and scenery. However rough is not mowed so losing balls is very frequent even with good shots. Greens are nice but super slow. Hot deal is worth it but at reg price would have played once vs three times in the week. Can play very quickly as likely 20 people on course total on days I played. Has gas carts with no gps.
The range was closed because the grass was over 6 inches long and they couldn’t find the hit balls. The only part of the course that was mowed were the fairways. We lost so many balls that were just off the fairway that we couldn’t find in the tall, thick grass.
Fabulous!!!
The course was great!!! The staff were great! Tina even gave me a lift back to my hotel at the Marriott.
It was hard to focus on the golf due to the pretty views nut it's a nice layout that spans across Frigate Bay with some breathtaking ocean views on the back nine. The course was empty and I got around in 3 hrs while taking lots if pics.
The rough was a little long due to past rain amounts but the greens were true and fairways were well maintained.
Looking forward to another round tomorrow. I would highly recommend this course.
Can be much better
I was excited to play. First tee was great till got to the green. The green was woolly and very slow. The greens had not been rolled at all making putts unpredictable and hard to read. Other greens were diseased making putting difficult. The bunkers hardly had any sand in them and had turned into clay making it unplayable. There were no rakes in the bunkers either.
Front nine was in better condition than the back nine. However, the views were spectacular, second to none. The course would be amazing worth the green fees if it is well maintained. Hopefully it is so that I can play it again.
Disappointing at best
As many have pointed out, the course is in very rough shape. Some of the greens were well cared for but most of the course is beat up. There were few open amenities since there was only one person working. If you want to play a great Caribbean course, head to Aurora in Anguilla.
Scenic
How could you not enjoy a round of golf on a ba beautiful Caribbean island like Saint Kitts. Honestly the course has been in better shape and one green was severely diseased. Overall my third time on this course, it was a pleasure.
Likely at one time this was a nice venue but they have let it go and seems like no coming back now.
Fairways were bare in places and overall condition was poor.
Good island vacation course
A nice course but overpriced. Nice layout with some beautiful views of the ocean. Fairways in decent shape considering the climate, but the rough was very weedy. Greens were in good shape but very slow, took a while to adjust to.
St. Kitts Golf
Considering the climate, course conditions were pretty much as expected – rough was rough, fairways dry. The greens were in very good condition, although very slow. Hardly anybody on the course which surprised me, but we found out that late March is pretty much after their peak season. Go to Golfnow for a reduced rate if you can and save a few bucks. I would definitely play here again if we returned to the island.
Decent course if you get a discount
This is a decent course to play as long as you’re not paying the listed green fee of US $125. The fairways are very patchy, a lot of the bunkers have grass growing in them, and the greens had bare spots. I was able to get on at considerable discount (half price) through Golf Now and overall I enjoyed my round. The staff was really friendly (even though the pro shop seemed misinformed about whether the range was open or not) and the ‘Marshall’ was super - I was playing solo and he came out on the course to make sure groups in front were letting me pass. I’ve played courses all over the Caribbean and often times felt like they were trying to take advantage of tourists by overcharging when the course was actually empty. At least with the Golf Now discount I didn’t feel that so much here. I enjoyed the layout and had a great day on the course. I will definitely be back to play again (like tomorrow!)
Nice course
Just a little pricey Especially when renting clubs. Thanks for golf now for helping out.
Solid Course
Played five rounds on this course, challenging, but very doable for the average golfer, which I am, great experience. Some really nice water holes on the back line I recommend.
Bad conditions on course. Like the back nine and the pace of play!
