Cordillera Ranch Golf Club features cascades, challenging golf and breathtaking views of the Guadalupe River Valley. A chain of hilltops form the perimeter of the golf community, encircling the 7,464-yard golf course
that meanders through the oak-laced valley below. Emerald fairways and velvety greens will undulate between natural limestone canyons.
Given a 780-acre canvas out of the 8,600-acre Cordillera Ranch community, on which to express his vision, Jack Nicklaus has produced a masterful
routing that embraces and captures authentic Hill Country beauty, carefully preserving and enhancing the native grasses around the golf course
that are so characteristic of this area of Texas.
With Cordillera Ranch Golf Club's par-3 16th hole, Nicklaus captured the essence of the Hill Country, along with great golf, by placing the peninsula-shaped
green just over a canyon, between twin water falls - a player's dream, a photographer's canvas, and a certain destiny as one of
the most talked about holes on any golf course in Texas.

As good as it gets in the Hill Country
Cordillera Ranch jostles for position among the best of private golf experiences in the Texas Hill Country. The par-3 16th hole, that features a waterfall, rock outcroppings and overall spectacular surroundings, does steal the show on what is otherwise one of my favorite Nicklaus designs. This is the kind of course where every tee box feels so much different from the next. Greens are all sorts of shapes and sizes. This is the kind of course you could play everyday for your whole life, and that's of course the point with an elite private club just north of San Antonio.
The overall ambiance of the club really can't exude "Hill Country" any better. And from a members perspective, it must give one peace of mind knowing the clubs and development have never changed hands or has any debt. This seems to be a place that's doing things the right way. Be sure to hang out in the locker room a little. There is a fantastic jacuzzi as well as other amenities. I could get used to this kind of place...
Now, Cordillera Ranch is high end and exclusive, but prospective members or homebuyers can experience the grounds with an introductory overnight or weekend package, and I'd highly, highly recommend it. Better experience than the TPC San Antonio nearby? For the amateur golfer, absolutely. Well done, Nicklaus.
