Frisco Lakes Golf Club

About
Frisco Lakes Golf Club is a part of the Del Webb Frisco Lakes Community, just north of Dallas. The front nine of the course is interwoven with the community itself while the back nine sprawls across open countryside. The five sets of tees range from just over 5,000 yards to just over 7,000 yards, allowing the golf course to be played as a leisurely round or a formidable test. The challenging, well maintained greens are the course's most memorable feature. Golfers should be prepared for a back-to-back peninsula green and island green on the seventh and eighth holes. The 14th is another tough water hole that runs alongside Lake Lewisville. Water is not the only hazard at Frisco Lakes Golf Club though, there are also plenty of strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Course has lots of repairs going on
Course, little pricey for conditions, lots of course repairs. Greens were great but lots of course fairways under repair. Cart path only of front 9..they should always tell you!
A shell of its former glory…

Greens are great. Everything else from the course has not recovered from whatever has plagued it over the last year or so. This was once my favorite course in DFW. It has a long way to go to recover. They are over-seeding the tee boxes right now so it’s white tees only. There’s no signs of them doing anything to fix the fairways.
Course conditions saved by the food
Other than the greens which were pretty good the course conditions were pretty rough. They definitely aren’t watering the rough where huge cracks in the ground swallowed golf balls. Some cracks in the fairway too. A mix of really soggy spots and bare ground. For the price point I would expect better course conditions… that being said, the price point included lunch and a beer. And not a cheap hotdog or sandwich and cheap beer..: but a full on lunch. Food and restaurant were great. Good draft selection. Perfect after a hot day on the course. With the lunch special, it wasn’t bad value. Without it… it’s not $100 course.
Won’t serve food
Never been to a course that refuses to sell the golfer food while on the course. I called from the 6th green To order a sandwich at the turn. Was told they can’t take orders because it slows the pace of play down and that I could get a hotdog at the shack on the turn. We get to the turn the shack is closed, we go inside and the bartender tells us she can’t order us hotdogs because it will slow pace of play.
Ridiculous pace of play for early tee time and the &&
$110+ and started fairly early (9:30 am) on a Sunday and waited in every tee box! Often pulling up to tee with group in front still there. Ridiculous they can’t keep groups moving for that kind of money! Hard pass
Worst condition this course has ever been in
1st fairway not even mowed.. fairways are 70% grass, 30% dirt.. parts of the fairway & rough are not even mowed. Greens are okay, but absolutely not worth $85 for a weekend round. This is a $40 course at best. Avoid this course at all costs.
Enjoyed. It used to be better
Overall, it’s a good course and relatively well maintained comparing to other courses. But, it used to be better. I think overall quality of golf courses in DFW has gone down. I hope the course patches the bare spots especially around the greens quickly and water the fairways more. Then it can justify its green fee.
Not worth the money
Course is in bad condition, obviously put all the money in the new clubhouse. Like playing on concrete fairways and the greens are patchy. Used to be a staple for us, no longer. They need to charge $50 max for this course to be realistic.
Waaaayyyyyyyy overpriced!
Paid $115.00, worth $30. Large patches without grass on every fairway. Greens were bumpy and in very poor condition. Staff acted like they didn’t want to be there, and the marshals were all crusty and rude.
Overpriced Garbage
This course has a great layout! It can be a lot of fun to play!
However! They have huge drainage problem when it rains. And in the summer the course is like playing on cement.
They have horrible grass coverage and most of the time you are hitting your ball off dirt, even on the fairway. It makes for a poor experience.
To top it all off they are so over priced it’s a complete scam.
I can’t believe they get away with charging as much as they do! Stop changing your clubhouse and fix your course!
Any rating over 2 stars is a lie.
Don’t play here, especially at their rates. You’re better off playing elsewhere like cowboys course for this much. Such a let down as this course 2 years ago was pretty darn nice. Ownership and management need to do better
Disastrous
I had the misfortune of playing at Frisco Lakes Golf Club today, and it was an experience I hope to forget. To call the fairways "subpar" would be an insult to even the most modest municipal courses. What I encountered was a barren wasteland of dirt and despair, with only the occasional patch of grass to remind me that this was supposed to be a golf course. The greens, while somewhat decent, could not redeem the overall desolation.
Adding insult to injury, the food provided was a travesty. The pizza, included with the $100 rate, was an undercooked, topping-starved excuse for a meal. The dough was raw, and the sauce - if you can even call it that - was repugnant, a flavorless smear that only added to the overall misery of the day.
The course layout has its charms, with water features adding a hint of excitement, but it's hard to enjoy any of it when you're playing on what feels more like a moonscape than a fairway. It's appalling to think that I've played on municipal courses at a fraction of the cost, all of which were in far superior condition.
In summary, Frisco Lakes was a complete letdown. The dire state of the fairways and the abysmal food offering turned what should have been a pleasant round of golf into an utterly regrettable experience. It's a mystery how this place manages to stay in business with standards this low.
Cool layout, poor conditions
Very cool layout (island hole was very cool) but the conditions were pretty poor. Seemed to be hitting off more dirt/mud than grass all day even in the fairways. There wasn’t one ball wash out either. Seems a little pricey for what its current condition is.
Regressing
With summer and warmer temperatures rapidly approaching, there is no excuse for this course to be in the condition it is currently in. Played Heritage Ranch in the same week and the differences are astronomical. The layout at Lakes is one of my favorite, but I’m afraid the course is regressing badly. Almost more bare spots than fairway. The bunkers have no sand and cheap turf is exposed on the bottom of them, must be careful trying to dig too much in the bunkers. They are aware at how poor the condition is as your round comes with a burger and a beer. How about lowering your prices until you figure it out? $50 course AT MOST currently.
My round
Staff is amazing, facility/clubhouse was amazing. I realize I played on March 6 but there was so much dirt and no grass to hit iron shots. Greenskeeper also put pins extremely close to hills on the green so you either had to make it or the ball went 15 feet by. Golf is supposed to be fun, my round was not fun.
