Challenging par-3, #8 Photo submitted by ConnieBlack on 05/26/2014
Great golf course
My second time playing the Wilderness. Perhaps the best public course in the Houston area (comparable in quality to Redstone and Blackhorse). Very good layout in a great venue - no houses, in a forest (wild deer, etc..). Course itself is a good challenge - the large greens keeps the track from being overly difficult. On this round, fairways a bit thin due to time of the year & greens were slow due to recent aerating. That will correct itself in a couple of weeks. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Great value for the money. I would strongly recommend. Worth the 50 minute drive from downtown Houston.
Would play again
This is a very nice course. It was damaged by a hurricane a few months prior so it wasn't in the best shape, but there x were people everywhere working to put it back in shape. I played with 2 female members who were very nice. I would love to go back and play thus course again when it totally recovers from the hurricane damage.
Great course
Staff is always the most pleasant people. Have played a lot of different courses and they are the best. Course is getting better but still have a ways to go.
The Wilderness
First time playing this wonderful course, not disappointed at all. Still working through some storm damage and facilities upgrades but will be worth it in the long run. It will be my new home course for many years to come, couldn’t be happier to grow my game at this location.
Carts still banned from fairways
Oh when, oh when? Please be merciful and end the ban on carts on the very well manicured and cured fairways!
Solid course
Wilderness is worth every penny during twilight. 38 bucks a person. Pace of play was perfect and we had a twosome and finished 18 starting at 3:40pm. Only gripe is cart path only. Course has zero wet spots, and i can understand wanting to let the course recover, but 90° would be more than sufficient. Other than that everything is great. Shot 74 yesterday, so theres some good scores to be had. Greens rolling smooth
Course is recovering nicely and should off the paths in another month. Always enjoy playing here.
Nice layout, still recovering from Beryl
Lost alot of trees in the hurricane and fairways still recovering from flooding in low spots. Nice layout and greens are undulating and in pretty good shape! Hope they keep after it! Worth saving!!!!
A Hidden Jewel
I play twice a week, and like to move it around to regular and new courses.
The Wilderness was one of my PERFECT rounds.
I played with my best friends, on a spectacular day, the course was challenging but scoreable, greens rolled true and fast, fairways were lush, and the hosts were warm and friendly.
To quote the Terminator, "I'LL BE BACK!"
Long Day
Cart path only makes for a long day. Greens were a little slow but perfect.
ProV1
Starters and Marshalls could work on their customer service and personality
Great Course
This course is always in great shape. I will be back.
Great Course
They have had a lot of rain so was muddy. Sure not typical. Staff and range were incredible!
