Tiburón Golf Club - The Black Course

About
Tiburón Golf Club in Naples boasts two championship courses, the Black and the Gold. Greg Norman created both courses, blending traditional and modern elements in the design. Both layouts play like classic links courses with a twist. The Black Course is Tiburón's original layout that is slightly more challenging than the Gold. It features a combination of stacked sod wall bunkers and coquina waste bunkers. Water hazards and tall pines come into play frequently as well. Be prepared to face a few tough carries. Tiburón's Black Course finishes with a tricky par 5. This dogleg-right hole features not only a massive lake that runs the entire length of the right side but also coquina waste areas and greenside bunkers. A birdie on this hole is quite an accomplishment.

Black Course
Great condition. Fairways and greens were both excellent for this time of year.
Tell me in advance
We arrived, checked in, warmed up at the range, and practiced on the putting green. The starter sent us off to the first hole. After we tee off and drive to our shots the cart gets locked up on the fairway. We come to realize that the the entire course is cart path only (and rightfully so). It was very wet. Some one, either the guys that checked us in, or the starter should have told us about the cart path only. We were not interested in that and walked off after one hole. We were refunded our money, but had we known at check in an hour might not have wasted.
This course is very nice condition found it difficult to hit from fair way type of grass I guess but course was very nice
Will recommend this course to anyone who enjoys playing nice courses
Ripped off
GolfNow takes your 4 player18 hole reservation for 4:00PM makes you pay upfront and neither they or Tiburon tells you carts have to be returned by 7 PM. The starters literally drove out to escort us off at 6:50 pm!! Sunset was at 8:45 pm lol Horrible!!!
Over paid
I made reservation through GOLFNOW on Wednesday, May 31 to play Monday, June 5. I, and rest of foursome, have SWFLPGA app. According to app, the cost to play at Tiburon Black would be $79. This price applies Monday thru Thursday starting in June. When I arrived at course on June 5 I was informed that because I had booked more than three days prior, the cost would be $119, not $79. I was told that I should have called Tiburon pro shop and NOT use GOLFNOW to book course. Since I have been using GOLFNOW once or twice a week I was disappointed. Luckily, all of us were able to pay the additional amount. But, being able to play at reduced rates is one of reasons we endure heat in Naples during summer to play at premium golf courses. Getting surprised as we were is not something I prefer.
Great opportunity to access private club/senior tour stop
Very nice course. It was in great shape. Pace of play was great too, finished in three hours.
Slow play, no on course support
Unfortunately, Tiburon Black is a great golf course but tourists want to get their money’s worth. Three practice swings to produce a hard right shank, over and over. Missed putts and they do over. Searched for every lost ball. When we waved down the Guest Assistant, he shrugged it off and said they are enjoying their round.
Will not play again, especially given the premium price which did not support premium play.
Not worth the money
They close at 7pm but we were only informed while teeing up at 4.20pm (and of course after paying), hence we tried to play fast to finish up. But, we had a flight of 6 (!) people playing in front of us which made it impossible to play 18 holes. After 14 holes, we then had to stop which is really a pity to pay more than 100$ for that. We’ve been to other clubs where you pay 1/3 of the price, staff may more friendlier and do inform you in advance of the conditions.
The course in itself is nice, not too difficult but in good conditions.
