About
Utopia Golf Course is tucked away in the scenic Sabinal Canyon. It is a popular nine-hole course in an idyllic location that served as the inspiration for a book, which then became the movie "Seven Days in Utopia," starring Robert Duvall. In the film, the course is where the main character discovers his game. The scenic Hill Country views that you'll enjoy throughout the golf course were the film's backdrop. It's worth a play if only for the beautiful scenery. The layout has appeal for low and high handicappers alike. For seasoned golfers it provides a challenging but quick round, but at the same time it's player friendly enough for beginners looking for some practice. Water hazards come into play on several holes but there is only one bunker. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range.

Should be named "Far from Utopia"
This course should not even be offered on Golf Now/Golf Pass. It's a horrible place. The fairways are cut by a bush hog, no greens at all, the course is not marked, cart paths hardly exist. Do not recommend. I was drawn there by the movie, but's far from Utopia!!!
Good layout of the course and cool because of the movie but the greens are not in a condition that you can truly putt the ball on. The tee boxes were okay and the fairways were okay but overall still a good time.

Neat experience. Pretty scenery. Greens were horrendous. Tee box indicators were terrible as well. Great place to practice, awesome value but don’t go out of your way to play this course. Gentlemen working the front desk didn’t seem to keen on my booking through GolfNow. Luckily I had printed all paperwork and confirmation numbers.
Steadily improving
Seems the owner of the course has submitted to the fact that it takes a ground crew to work diligently and with authentic concern for the condition of the course.!
Each time I have played this course,, I definitely see improvement.!

Friendliest Staff Around
The greens need a little work but with no rain it’s tough to keep them up.
Unfortunate timing
The golf course was probably the busiest it has been all year due to the July fourth holiday.!
Unfortunately, the golf course was recently the victim of theft and vandalism.!
The perpetrators stole many of their golf carts and vandalized several other carts leaving them with very few to rent.!
The players that were able to get a cart including me,, found themselves having to skip holes in order to get the cart back to the clubhouse.!
I hope they can find some help in getting replacement carts soon.!

Utopia golf
It was very good pace but greens and fairways were little messed up. There are branches and leaves all over the green and fairways weren’t cut.

Played the front nine at a comfortable pace with mildly hot temperatures.!
Noticed the clouds moving in and decided to try and get as many holes in as possible.!
Hit my drive and second shot on the tenth hole and was approaching my ball near the green when lightning struck really close.!
I decided to pick up my ball and call it a day.!
Good while it lasted.!
Nice place to visit
I’m a amateur golfer and prefer to play where I don’t feel pressured. This was a friendly and supportive golf course.

Interesting place which makes the round fun. Go here for the unique experience and views rather than the golf and you’ll enjoy.

No surprises, beautiful day in February to enjoy the outdoors. I will play there again
