Fun Course
This course will make you wonder what state you are in...the elevation changes are somewhat dramatic for Florida; thank goodness for the gas carts. I was definitely challenged from the back tees. Some of the greens need work, but they rolled fast and true. They have two courses and we look forward to returning to play the Falcon. Staff was excellent; we did not have a tee time and they got us out immediately. You do need to be associated with military to play the course or be a guest of military.
Bring a Book
I’ve played Eglin since 1998. The overall vibe has just deteriorated slowly over the years. I was told it’s the best shape it’s been in ten years. Started out on Falcon, got to the first green and it looked like it hadn’t been mowed for a bit. Switched to Eagle. There was maybe five groups on the course. We were number four of the five and waited on every shot. Sad that some feel they are entitled to play slow and hold up the whole course, of course the pro shop doesn’t seem to mind, so why should the slow players. It’s too bad because the layouts are great.
Improved greens
I am happy to say since the last time I played that the greens have grown in very nicely. Always a fun course but with the grains being improved made it much much better thanks for your efforts.
Great course
Everything is awesome on this course. The clean parking lot, to the friendly staff and well stocked pro shop to the beautiful fairways and receptive greens.
Letting It Go
I signed up to play the Eagle course but when I arrived there was a tournament on it. We were sent out on the Falcon. The Falcon doesn't get the care that the Eagle does. I you go make sure you book the falcon and call the course to make sure, if I had known I wouldn't have gone.
Sad - conditions are so bad and not getting any better
Just review the pictures they speak for themselves - weeds, weeds, roots, exposed roots, erosion, bad greens - this is what you get for the price you pay - pay little get little

Greens are much improved - Fall transistion completed and growing back in nicely
Details on GOLFNOW are bogus. No such tees exist and the slopes have never been this high.
The course green surrounds were rebuilt in 2008 and in no way resemble the original William B Langford design. The tee colors and placement of many were changed as well. GOLFNOW should ensure their information is correct.
The course is a niece military course but conditions are usually marginal. The price is right and a good course to play. I recommend it.
Greens where in good shape
Played from tips made course challenging fairways where good and greens where really nice. Would highly recommendi excellant value . Will definitely play again
Really Good
The course was in great condition. The staff was friendly. I have no complaints.
Solid Experience
We enjoyed playing this course! Fairways, greens and tee-boxes were all in good shape. Enjoyed the rolling terrain that the course is laid out on. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Destin. The other good news, is that you don't have to be military to play, you can access the course without showing a military ID.
Eglin AFB courses
Both Falcon and Eagle courses are beautiful, challenging, and a bargain after 2 PM. Greens in great condition but oh so tricky! Fighter jets playing tag above seemed to be putting on a show for us. Awesome.
Drawbacks: each 9 does not end at the clubhouse, so bring your own refreshments, no roving beer girls either which is just as well, hard to find any attendant in the bar/restaurant. Toilets on the course are plentiful but have no lights, relying instead on skylights which are dirty and obscured. Bring a flashlight or cell phone light! Minor stuff, just love these courses!
Off Kilter
Strange course. Some interesting holes and very good setting for a course. However, a few holes were so tilted that even drives hit totally to one side would end up on the other extreme after roll. Some very dry and unkempt areas off fairways. Some patchy greens, though design of greens was interesting and challenging. Course staff very welcoming. Cart pick up and drop off somewhat awkward..
Great layout
For course that is almost a hundred years old, this is one heck of a great layout.

All the greens were leveled and rebuilt in 2008. Sad to see historical William B Langford greens destroyed. Welcome to modern greens.
conditions were not where it was enjoyable to play.
At the early morning tee time the winds were gusting as high as 30 miles per hour. It was also cold. We asked if it would be possible to play when it was playable and the said no. We tried a couple holes and it was not enjoyable in any way.
I was pretty upset because we had been to the course a couple times in the afternoon and the course was wide open. but they would not let us try it at a time when the weather was a bit better. I will never go back.
Great bargain for the money
Staff very friendly and course was better than expected. Greens were the best part of course.
Hilly Florida Course
Very fun golf course that is challenging due to the need to hit shots from uphill/downhill lies as well as side hill lies. Players should be able to find a tee that fits there capabilities. Tee choice would be better if they had a combination set of tees using gold and silver tees.
The amenities are rated only fair because food cannot be purchased after 2pm most days. The bar also closes at 2pm several days a week as well. Might check schedule of bar and food availability times when making tee time.
Elevation changes. In Florida!
Great challenging layout. Multiple tee options for all abilities. Surprising elevation changes for Florida. Dormant grass in January allows for lots of roll and limited rough. Staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A great value. Will certainly be back!!
7:00am Tee Time Not Available to Golf Now customers
Despite reserving a 7:00 tee time through Golf Now we were told upon arrival that we would have to wait for the "Gaggle" to go infant of us and that according to the fine print they did not have to get us off on time. Not a real problem but the Desk person was overly forceful reference this and made more of issue than it had to be. Suggest either Golf Now change what tee times they offer or get Eglin to honor their agreement with Golf Now. Otherwise the course was in great shape!!!!!
Play it
This course is amazing, you would think you're playing golf 15 hours north of it. The condition was pretty good, the greens were punched not to long ago but they still rolled pretty well. The views are absolutely breathtaking, just an unbelievable golf course, so good i stopped in the pro shop on my way out and made a tee time for tomorrow
Course is total crap and charging 45 dollars and calling that a special is a crime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
