My favorite course at Terre Blanche
Le Riou - the private course that's only available to resort guests and members - is my favorite course at Terre Blanche.
It isn't as long or as difficult or as celebrated as Le Chateau, but it might deliver the more enjoyable round of golf. It annually hosts the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, a tournament on the Ladies European Tour Access Series.
Its hilly terrain provides better vistas of the surrounding countryside in Provence. As hard as it is to climb some of the these hills to score well, the 6,567-yard course tends to give back strokes on the downhill holes, like nos. 1, 7, 16 and 18.
The bookends are special. The par-4 ninth climbs uphill with a waterfall filling a pond along the right side. The par-5 finishing hole starts with a tee set high on a ridge. Water lurks the entire right side should players attempt to give the green a go in two.
Be sure to dine on the patio and check out the art work near the clubhouse. Everything about the experience of staying and playing at Terre Blanche is world class.
