Bad Greens
Summer heat made these greens horrible. However other courses right down the road have beautiful bent greens. Maintenance needs much improvement on the greens. Tee boxes and fairways were great, didn't bother putting after second hole we just hit pitch shots around green, because they were unplayable. 2 years ago this course had best greens in and around Atlanta. PUT TIME AND MONEY IN THE GREENS,THATS WHAT MATTERS. Also charge less if you know you have terrible greens.
This course will test your skills
The fairways , tees and greens were all in great shape ,The rough was slightly high . Perfect variety of uphill , downhill , level , straight , left to right and right to left holes . Few if any easy holes . Correct club selection is crucial on approach shots
Re-opened
Glad to see the Lion re-opened. The improvements that were made are noticeable. Greens in very good condition (a few have small sanded areas). Tees, fairways, and bunkers all in good shape. Fun course with good mix of holes and hilly terrain.
Course conditions much improved
Fairways were in the best condition in the last few years. Greens show the amount of effort the Lion team has put into them in the last year and majority were in exceptional condition. Two or three greens had spots of bad turf, but overally the greens rolled very true. The last time we played here the bunkers were horrible, with more weeds than sand, but now have been groomed properly and feature new sand. If not for the few greens with true spots I would have given a 5 rating.
Great course but have your A game
I played with my son he is a pretty new golfer and although he thought the course was great he mentioned it was well above his current playing level. I really loved the elevation changes and you will not find a ton of flat lies so that makes it challenging. The greens were difficult but not ridiculously fast. I really liked the course with a 138 slope it is a course that you need to be striking well. The staff was very friendly I would recommend and plan on playing here again very soon!
Course is on it's way back
Have always liked the challenging lay out but the condition in the more recent past has been only fair.
Over a period of voluntary closesure they made some much needed improvements on the course. Now I'm proud to say it appears the Lion is on it's way back. It's not perfect yet but gaining ground. Hope they keep at it. So if you can handle the drive out to Breman I would say the Lion is worth the trip.
Getting tbere
We've always liked the course. it's peaceful and the staff is very friendly. greens getting back, but still a great golfing a experience.
this was great
the greens and faairways was in good condition
a thanking man course
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO PLAY !
Nice course but needs some attention
Course was well laid out with some challenging holes, but the tee boxes and greens are in bad condition. Pretty open fairways for the most part as long as you don't have a wicked hook or slice.
Doesn't match the advertisements.
Given the write ups my wife and I decided to take a day of vacation and drive the hour and a half to Bremen. Modest clubhouse and friendly help . Overall course is in decent shape and you do spend some time driving through the woods to get to some tees. Not sure when greens were aerated ( play date was first week in October) but they were a disaster. Most of the grass was gone and we didn't have that hot of a summer. Two groups let us through so we played in two hours forty five minutes. Not overly hard and 18 is an interesting finish.
lion
Overall conditions were good but the greens are still a little rough
Course conditions were horrible
First and last time I will play this course. The conditions are horrendous as almost all of the greens were in sad shape and some almost unplayable. The fairways were rough as well. The layout is great, but the conditioning leaves a lot to be desired. Additionally, the pace of play was not managed as a fivesome was allowed to play on a holiday when courses are crowded. We were well on our way to a 6 hour round when we pulled an audible after sitting on the 11th tee for 15 minutes while the fivesome and another group brought play to a complete halt. We went and played the front nine again and still finished ahead of the fivesome. We went and told the attendant at the pro shop of the situation and he could have cared less. He said the fivesome was not the problem but a group on the 15th hole. When you have 3 groups backed up on the 11th hole and one of them is a fivesome, the 15th hole is not your issue. Totally clueless and uncaring. Lastly the hot dogs at the turn made 7 Eleven hot dogs look and taste gourmet. I will not be going back to this course due to the condition of the course and the attitude of the management. This could be a decent track if they put some money and care into it!
Dead greens and bad management
We played on Labor Day. The greens are gone and unplayable. The management allowed a fivesome of players off in front of us and they didn't let anyone play through. We complained but got nowhere. It was a six hour round on a mostly empty poorly maintained course. After we finished we couldn't even get a beer, the restaurant wasn't open. I suspect this course won't be around next year - I would never go back.
Greens need some help
The course has a great lay out. But unfortunately the Greens are in bad shape and most Bunker are also in poor shape. To bad as this would be a good course to play but needs some TLC.
Lion worth the time
Great round of golf
Overall layout was awesome
Greens need a little work some seemed burned up
Overall the course was great
Would play again
Challenging course for better than average players
If you're a 15 or better, can carry the ball at least 200 yards comfortably, hit it fairly straight and can still walk at least 9 holes you'll enjoy this tough course. It's a good value for the money. Greens were fast(prob 8.5-9) and .undulating. It does require some walking up and down hills. If you don't meet the above requirements you might seek an easier, flatter course.
