Reynolds Lake Oconee - The National

About
The National, designed by Tom Fazio, offers a 18-hole experience where no two holes are alike, but all share elements of blending into their natural environment, hence earning the nickname “The Natural”. The Cove Nine gradually slopes down to the lake bringing the coves of Lake Oconee into play. The Ridge Nine meanders inland and offers dramatic elevation changes providing challenging shots from tee to green.

On the way to the masters
This was a great course but probably our least favorite of the lake oconee courses we played. A couple members said this course was also by far the toughest but we felt great waters was tougher. The front nine suited my eye well with a lot of holes going left to right which is perfect for my ball flight. Greens rolled well and several pretty holes. Only downfall was the $300-$350 price due to it being masters week.
Greens like are super fast
I loved the course however the greens were starting to go dormant and they were slick. The course superintendent put the pins in much to difficult of a spot for amateurs. Would like to play again when the greens were not so fast.
Gorgeous Conditions with Lightning Fast Greens
Upon arrival our group was greeted by friendly cart attendants who took our bags and directed us to the golf house where the shop attendant checked us in very promptly. After hitting some range balls we headed to the putting green which is very we should have spent the majority of our warm up. While the greens had been punched about 2 weeks ago, they were extremely fast! Once we began playing we noticed the true beauty of the layout before us. The Ridge and the Bluffs nines had rolling fairways and beautiful bunker placements. The rough was very thick and provided a stiff penalty for missing any fairway. While the two nines did not offer many lake views (except for the par 3 #4 on The Bluffs which was beautiful) the course was gorgeous nonetheless and an absolute joy to play.
