Funtime for all
Was a great fall day and rmthe course was in great shape i golfed lousy but i love coming there with my 3 friends
Second time at the Ponds
This time out was better conditions. Our power cart died after the first nine.
We had to push it in and exchange it.
It was a gas cart and just stopped running.
Better this week
The course was much more enjoyable with the cooler weather. We still lost golf balls out in the open. Off the fairway, the grass is way to deep and balls disappear.
One of our power carts died near the ninth tee box on the front nine. We had to push the cart back to exchange it. We still had nine holes to play.
On a number of the holes, the tee boxes are situated so that it is often difficult to see if the group ahead is out of the way. The rushes are so tall and the tee boxes are not elevated enough to allow us to see clearly. A few of those tee boxes are too far to carry for the average or below average golfer. And because of that. If the ball clears the hazard. It gets lost in the tall grass. We lost too many golf balls just off the fairway.
We are not pleased that we could not take our clubs to the car using the cart. For these reasons, I somehow doubt we will be back in spite of the fair price I got online and the friendly staff. We will have to see. There are so many other options to play where this isn't a problem.
You know the course is hard enough without the long grass. At my age, I won't even attempt to carry some of the hazards.
The Good and the Bad
For the first time playing this course. We found it a little confusing where to find the first tee box. The signs were not in the best places and not very big. The tee boxes and course conditions were good. The greens were good.
The course was a bit soft and I believe we lost a few balls when they plugged. As for the layout. For most people, some of those carries over the rushes were a bit long. Narrow in some places and a few too many sharp doglegs. As a senior, this course offers too much challenge and would make a round frustrating for me. Which is why we play a best ball format. It keeps everyone involved and limits frustration. Both my wife and I are seniors. My son is 35 and somehow we managed to come in one over.
The few things that were a disappointment are related to off the course.
I used a power cart due to by leg issues. Having to carry my bag back to the parking lot is an issue. I've don't remember ever playing a course where I wasn't allowed to use the cart to return my clubs to my car in the parking lot. Whatever reason the course has for this rule, is not good enough. I may not return to the Ponds just for that reason alone.
Many of cart paths were in poor shape and then having to drive past the area where the carts are being cleaned is unseemly. A good opportunity to get sprayed with mud and water. That wasn't thought through very well. Customers should not be anywhere near that area for a number of reasons.
It was a hot and humid day out on the course, which also made it uncomfortable and additionally challenging. But all in all, we did have a good time and will be back to try this course when it cools down here in the fall.
Nice Course, Decently Well Kept
Course always seems to be in good shape. Pace of play is hit or miss, but that's not typically their fault.
Greens are in great shape most of the time and play well.
Course layout is pretty easy, but there are a few challenging holes.
Nice
Great course. Make sure you play tees to your ability.
Needs work!
Greens were good, but the tee boxes and cart paths are in rough shape!
Great golfing until the end of the back 9!
Course was great, enjoyed the golfing! Only problem
I had is we got to the 5 thh (our back 9) hole and there were three groups of people waiting to T- off and a group of four in the fairway! We ended up calling it quits at that time! There’s no Reason why there should not of been a Ranger involved to find out where the hold up was! We would have sat there for 25 minutes before we could have T off and chances are at that time it would have been like that for the remaining 4 holes! That’s the only iproblem that we ran into! I’m sure it’s not usually like that but that should never happen on any golf course! Everything else was an A+++
Ponds golf
I was highly impressed by the friendliness of the staff and it’s was a good course to play I enjoyed that it has 3 courses. I will definitely return to play the course again.
Quick Nine
Headed out for a quick nine on a Sunday morning as a single. Was a little concerned as I was told by a couple members/season pass holders that they "triple book" their tee time and I was in a bit of a rush. All was good, played nine with a nice couple, had a few laughs, shot a 44 despite three doubles so not bad overall for me. Was done in ~2hrs which is fine for a Sunday morning.
That's pretty much the case everywhere that has bent grass tee boxes due to the weather this season...
