Awesome course
Played for the first time excellent course in great condition played the Silver tees some holes we’re very long for a 63 year old but had a BLAST playing this course shot a 99 will play again tomorrow afternoon most definitely a great course for the money
Rochelle Ranch
The greens were in poor shape and that made putting nearly impossible. The rest of the course was excellent and fun to play.
The course has a lot of winter kill on the greens. I'm sure with some TLC and time they will get much better.
other than that it is a nice course with a very friendly and helpful staff.
very long, needs water
greens and fairways in poor condition, but all else ok
FUN FUN FUN
With so many Tee box choices this could be like playing several different courses. We only saws 3 other golfers - it was as though we owned the place.
Well kept course
Very playable. Greens were receptive and rolled true. Fairways wide and well kept. Watch out for bugs. Overall very satisfied.
Fun Day in Rawlins
I met Jim and Kevin in the pro shop, they were very nice. The course isn't green yet, but will return to play again. Im a beginner, and it's a very forgiving course, especially with the winds this time of year. Its a challenging course, especially the back 9. I had a great time and will be back.
Rochelle Ranch
What a great course! I’m from the east coast, so playing a course at 7000 foot elevation was a lot of fun. Not a tree in sight, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find trouble (just ask the rattlers). If you ever find yourself near the course I highly recommend you play it.
Holy wind!!
Picked a ridiculously windy day and only managed to finish about 7 holes before calling it quits.
Even though it was a Golfnow purchase, the course issued us a rain check for 9 holes to be used at a later date.
We will definitely be back - for as dry as Wyoming is, the course is very green, the greens are fast the fairways are well taken care of and it’s a really long yardage course with also being wide enough to accommodate the occasional slice or hook without losing your ball.
A Must Play
Driving cross country from San Francisco to Maine, this was an unexpected surprise. I was staying the night in Rochelle and saw this course online so I went for it. First and foremost, the wind is no joke. The early morning prediction was 5-10mph picking up in the afternoon, but it was gusting you to 30mph at 8am. That being said, the course is incredibly well kept and diverse in its play! As mentioned in other reviews, the five different tee boxes offer 5 different experiences on the course. As a high handicap, it was definitely tough in some aspects as balls are easily lost past the rough, but I still enjoyed the course, it’s views, and unique location. I’ve payed more for less in California, so i believe the pricing is very fair for what you get. If you can tough out some strong wind, I highly recommend playing a round here, if for anything, just to say you played in the mountains of Wyoming!
Amazing Course - Never would have guessed!
Was on a work 4 day trip to Saratoga and had to stay in Rawlins. What a gift that was!
I was absolutely astonished at this beautiful course with an amazing layout and incredible scenery in south central Wyoming. If you are traveling I-80 or visiting in the SC WY area, you MUST go play this gem of a course.
5 different tee box selections made it new experience every time. I played the tips in 20+ MPH winds but was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. Many long clubs came out of the bag - the 693 Yard Par 5 on the back is a super test of accuracy and distance. I don't recommend the tips if you aren't confident in your driving distance and accuracy.
Played one round for the middle box which I would suggest is a great option for an average golfer (10-20 handicap). Had I had another day, I would have played the front boxes to see a completely different perspective on this amazing golf holes.
Course staff was kind and I enjoyed hearing the history of this golf course and the legacy of Mr. Rochelle
Fun Course
The course is challenging from the tees I play, but there are several tees to choose from that accommodate all levels of game style.
The staff are very friendly. I always look forward to playing this track!
This course is very good. Well maintained.
Everything was fine, at least those that human beings can control. It was very windy (20 mph) most of the time and that made it more difficult.
This course is generally very well maintained all the times I've played it. I have no gripe with any of the course conditions. There are tough areas but like I've been told many times; "don't hit the ball there". True everywhere you golf.
Club pro Kevin Gannon and his staff provide everything you need for an entertaining round of golf--exceptional service!
NIKE...Just Do It
Nice gem in the middle of the high desert. Abundant wildlife. 5 different selections from the tee box...choose wisely. Great staff. Course was in good condition. Fun wildlife to see.. Wind was an issue the morning we played so we just played 9. Could walk the back nine...nnt sure about the front.
Great experience
I come to Rochelle Ranch every year during my trips through the mountain west and it never disappoints. Course is always in great condition. If you want a slightly easier test go out in the morning, but if you want the full effect go out in the afternoon when the wind starts to blow. The course is never crowded and offers every type of shot a links style course could offer.
good but
I have played this course a number of times since moving here from the San Francisco Bay Area. Since June greens are great. Course is seldom crowded so you don't often get slowed down by other players. My main complaint is that the course is not walker friendly. Also choose your choice of tees carefully.
Rochelle Ranch mixes fairways and highways just right
Normally I'd blast a course where you can see a major highway, in this case I-80, from every hole. But at Rochelle Ranch it works. The distant hum of truck traffic accompanies a natural world where the deer and antelope play. I encountered a dozen or more antelope on a particularly peaceful morning. At nearly 8,000 yards from the tips, Rochelle Ranch ranks No. 29 among the hardest courses in the country by Golf Digest. It's perfectly playable, though, from the 6,627-yard Coyote tees. Wind normally impacts scoring conditions on such a wide-open prairie, but I caught it on a soft day with no breeze. The seven holes featuring water will pique everybody's interest. The 13th hole boomerangs so hard to the left around a pond that the green is actually reachable for those brave enough to attempt the 215-yard carry over the water. The only blemish of the round were the poor conditions of the 15th fairway. The fairway was so water-logged and torn up that it might be worth closing the hole for repairs until things improve.
