Golf fun at Haventree
This is a much play course to add to your bucket list. Course was in good condition and very fun to play. Excellent practice set up and staff is great. This a true gem in the Wake Forest area. This is a place where membership has its value.
This course is fun to play
Played last Friday. Course was in good condition and enjoyable to play. Staff is great! I would recommend this gem to be put on your bucket list. Wonderful clubhouse! This is a must play!!
A Fall From Grace
Tom Fazio was provided an unlimited budget to build the golf course at Hasentree. What used to be considered one of the top private courses in the Triangle area is now no better than your average municipal golf course. The new greens Toll Brothers decided to convert to (Tom Fazio installed bent greens...I wonder why he did that?) have been a complete failure. The new bermuda greens were installed because they were going to provide a better playing experience for the Hasentree membership during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. So far, the greens they didn’t loose this winter are rolling slower that the previous bent greens at the same time of year. If you’re looking to putt on slow, bumpy, grainy, and dissappointing greens, look no firther than Hasentree. I feel extremely bad for the membership as they were promised a bill of goods with these new greens and Toll Bros has 100% over promised and under delivered. I would recommend avoiding playing golf at Hasentree until someone at Toll Bros decides to take some initiative and follow thru on what they promised the Hasentree membership.
Forget about this place for a long while
This is normally an excellent club. BUT they have endured an extreme amount of winter kill on the course this year, most evident on the greens.
I was formerly a member here for many years and the quality of the greens, coupled with an outstanding Fazio layout, was their hallmark.
Not any more. Several are slated to be sodded and virtually every other green is highly distressed. I feel terrible for the members.
Our nearby course has also suffered somewhat this winter coupled with a very cold spring, but not nearly to the extend of Hasentree.
I only wish they will be able to restore the club to its full former splendor. I would love to return to play it again thereafter.
BTW I was playing in an interclub event and that is why the cost is so low.
Hasentree Is a Stunning Course
The course views are tremendous. Beautiful Clubhouse makes a statement as you approach the property. The course is a challenge and don't be intimidated by the yardage as many of the longer holes have a down slope. I had a great time playing there as a guest and I would strongly recommend playing if you ever get the opportunity. The staff made my experience memorable!
A true masterpiece!
Hasentree is a special golf course. It offers unparalleled conditions ( very challenging and manicured, bent grass greens), beautiful serene holes with homes set well back from the fairways, and just a tremendous test for all levels of golfers. There are no water hazards through the field of play, but Fazio placed plenty of sand bunkers (88 in total) in the most strategic places to make sure you keep focused on your shot making. The green complexes are very tricky and subtle with breaks that you have to study to understand. The quality of the staff is outstanding as they greet you at your car, take you clubs and have them waiting for you outside the Pro Shop. The practice facilities are the very best I have seen anyway in this area….with two separate chipping greens that allow the golfer to practice chips anywhere from 5 yards to 95 yards….two practice sand traps, with the grass and conditions mirroring what the golfer finds on the course….very difficult zoysia, grown to about 8 inches….and fine white sand. This is a test for the very top golfers as well as the accomplished amateur. If you have a chance to play Hasentree, take advantage of it. The club holds several charity events every year. You will be challenged, rewarded and at the end, you just finished playing one of the great courses in North Carolina. It is Fazio at his best with the green complexes and bunkering. The course is maintained at unmatched levels of condition, as fine as any in the area.
This is an excellent course. The scenery, the layout, the course caters to all levels of play and they have real sand in the bunkers versus red dirt at some other places in the area. I'd highly recommend.
You’d think being the venue for a golf tournament would be a great opportunity to showcase the talent of your staff as well as your private country club-that’s assuming you’d like to attract more members or at least make your member’s friends feel impressed. The staff at Hasentree obviously does not think like this.
I played in a scramble there on May 7 and shame on me I carried 2 clubs to a par 3 and left one behind. There was an opportunity to make an announcement asking if anyone had found the club, there was also an opportunity to see who teed off behind my group to see if they grabbed it. No such assistance from the staff. These guys never once said let’s see what we can do.
These guys are worthless clowns. Everyone acted as if I was a thorn in their side for even asking for help to locate my golf club. Dave and Phil are not worth whatever they are paid.
Besides all this the course is not very nice. The fairways are like a cow pasture and the greens are in awful shape. My advice would be to seek membership elsewhere. And if you do join, you’ll regret it if you get treated the way I was. I hope they care about their members better! If I treated my guests like this I’d go out of business
