Course was in very good condition
This course has improved tremendously over last 3 weeks. Very enjoyable!
Dampness Not A Deterrent
We played the day after an all-day rain in the area. The course drained well but was still littered with mushy places on the fairways. A few were even cartpath only, which contributed to slow pace of play.
At first glance there seemed to be water hazards everywhere, but the ample fairways helped keep most of them out of play. The varied layout presents some extremely challenging holes along with enough fair ones to make the common player eager to return.
We hope to play here again under dryer conditions because it's a course that was pleasing to our eyes and pocketbook.
Getting There
Conditions have improved by leaps and bounds over past : months. I’ll never get over how #1 was ruined but thank you to the staff for working to get conditions back.
much improved
played the course this past week after a couple of months since the last time i played the course. I was happy to see the improvement in the conditions. The greens have improved significantly as well as the ponds being trimmed on a regular basis. The sand traps have also improved. The new club pro has taken the initiative and done an excellent job improving the conditions. Way to go!
Don’t Waste Your Time
Terrible terrible conditions... really bad greens, grass rolled up all in the fairways, terrible cart paths... just bad. I don’t see how it can last long under these conditions.

Covid was tough on clubs too...Give Pinecrest another try. You won't be disappointed.
Greens Gone
It’s a shame how the current management company has let this course go. The greens are almost unputtable and it’s obvious the only water the fairways have seen is from what little rain we have had. The tract is very fun and you have to use every club in your bag but I won’t be returning until course conditions change.

It's all coming back...You will be surprised when spring rolls around how good the greens are again.
Cheap golf in Bluffton
Pinecrest golf course is a good cheap course to play for only $30. The course is pretty tight. Trees or water on each side of the fairway. When we went, the greens were aerated and were slow. The green’s grass was blotchy and not very green. Overall, my family played 3 or 4 rounds here. We enjoyed the course, but it could use some improvements. A tough course for those who can’t shoot a straight ball. But, cheap golf is hard to come by near Hilton Head island.
from ok to bad
played this course a couple
a months back and it was fair. Now, the greens are terrible and appear to have a disease. While it has been dry in the area, a lot of the fairways appear to not have been watered at all. Not sure what’s going on here but it’s a shame. The course layout is nice and staff is very friendly. Hope they figure it out.

2020 was tough for many courses, and Pinecrest went through a very rough patch. You'll be happy to see how far we have come in a few months.
not bad, but not good
course cost was very low which lead it to being busy. the greens were decent but somewhat inconsistent from hole to
hole. The fairways were sparse and could seeding and fertilizer. The Bunkers were terrible . The layout was nice and water on most holes. The tee boxes were not great, but personally don’t think that’s nearly as important as having fairways with grass. If the fairways improved, this course could easily be the best value in the area.
not my first time
Considering the time of the year, the course was in OK shape, the cart paths, as always were in need of repair but I have seen worse.
Great value and awesome course
I really enjoyed this course. Great value. Greens were kept well.
Soooo Long Pinecrest
So sad to see what has happened to Pinecrest golf course in Bluffton. This terrific layout has been abandoned by the caretakers I can only assume through the direction of the owners. The greens for putting were the best part of the course but still needed significant effort. Several years ago this track was a delight to play with good grass fairways, bunkers well kept, and managed rough. Attention was paid to the edges of the course making the overall view presentation very nice. Today there was no starter, minimal service at the bag drop, no Rangers and no refreshment cart. Pinecrest has gone the way of other courses managed by this organization, left to deteriorate with minimal upkeep and effort. So sad to see. Pinecrest is off my list.

dmsargent--If you make it back to Bluffton, look us up again. Ask for the female PGA pro and show her this review. She will send you back out to play and maybe you will revise this review.
January 2020
Great value, good layout spread out so not the best if you plan to walk.
Enjoyed the Course
There were some wet areas. Number 10 was cart pass only due to wetness.
Decent February Golf
The fairways and tees need work - but not terrible - it’s more just a case of February. Nothing especially good or bad. With reasonable expectations in hand, it’s a good value for price paid.
Slow pace but caused by players
The coarse was great and the only thing that was bad was a 4.5 hour round. There was a foursome ahead of us - Grandfather, father and 2 grandsons. VERY SLOW. q twosome ahead of us for 5 holes passed the foursome and were out of sight, We were stuck behind them until the 2 youngsters opted out. All other times at Pinecrest were great.
Time
Took 41/2 hrs for a threesome. No ranger to keep play moving. A twosome ahead of us disappeared for three holes.( 10-12 )then just drove by us on 12 and started back to play ahead of us again. Have never seen this happen ever. So we waited and finished slow.
Course in great condition
Stay in the fairway, the grass is deep and hard to find your ball.
It's getting better all the time and last week it was reverted hole #1 back into the par 5 Rocky designed it to be.
