Good layout but conditions were ummm interesting
I had very high expectations coming into this round as I had heard a lot of good things about Indian Pond. The layout did not let me down, a lot of elevation changes, well placed bunkers and tightish fairways. The issue I had here was with the conditions and the greens. The bunkers were pebble filled and very firm and the greens were almost unplayable due to speed. To give you an example of how they were, a playing partner had a 10 foot uphill putt that he left short by inches and had the ball roll back to him ten feet from the hole TWICE. To me this is kind of goofy golf when you have greens like this. And imagine that they had 4-5 inches of rain the night before. Imagine if they didn’t have that water. Again, the layout is fantastic but the conditions were a little rough.
Private Hidden Gem
Got the chance to play Indian Pond today. It was November in New England so it was Fall conditions but you could tell that mid summer the greens are probably pretty fast. Lots of slope on the greens too.
This is a private course but the vibe is really laid back. Pace of play was great, as would be expected at a private track. We only saw a few groups all day.
The course is relatively short but you can get into some trouble off the tee. Be aware that there are a TON of white staked OB all over this course in case you are playing in a tourney or with some rule sticklers.
Almost every hole has a dogleg, which is fun. There are two throwaway short par-4 dogleg rights, one on the front and one on the back. Other than that all of the holes are very solid and fun. Both #9 and #18 are cool holes to potentially end a match on.
Overall a very solid course. One that you could play over and over and find different ways to play it. Hope to return soon.

Pro Tip:
1. Stay below the hole on almost every green.
2. Most tee shots work well for a draw.
Nice Course on the South Shore - challenging greens
I've played here a dozen times with my Dad. I've always liked the course. There are some challenging holes. The rough can be thick, and the greens are quick. Great clubhouse with good food. Nice course over all.
