Played Lucan yesterday, not a bad course, a bit bland, not a lot of features, pretty straight up and down parkland course, no memorable holes. In pretty good nick for February, a little soggy in places but overall pretty good, staff and members very nice, clubhouse and facilities were very good, just not my type of course, like I say, a bit bland.

Lucan golf club

Over all lucan golf course has an excellent layout. Unfortunately there are temporary greens in play. They are at best sub standard. We were only told this on morning of day we played. There was no reduction in green fee. Give it a miss.

Lucan Golf Club (3 Stars)

Yet just another very average Parkland Golf course in Dublin. Nothing special. Very friendly staff though. Not much in the way if stock in the Pro Shop.

First 3 Holes straight forward, average and boring.
4th hole (NOT A PAR 5) too short.
5th hole (or so I thought) no signage. I played it, not knowing what was going on. Eventually hit my ball onto the green, with no pin or actual hole on the green. It must of been a temporary hole. Green was lumpy and in bits.

Eventually seen a sign for the actual 5th hole. The walk is beyond ridiculous. Again Nothing special, another boring par 4. Just like the 6th and 7th. Very average Parkland course. Boring holes.

The par 3 8th is decent (but again average).

9th and 10th holes... forget about it, boring and too short.

In truth Lucan Golf course doesn't get going until the par 3 11th. Lovely hole (water down the left hand side). But it shouldn't come into play (if your any way decent).

12th hole is nice (decent). 13th hole long par 5. It's a cracker, it must be said.

14th and 15th holes again very short, average and boring.

16th hole par 3. Nothing special ( like the par 3 8th).

17th par 5. Decent enough. Exactly what you'd expect from a long Parkland Course hole.

18th finishing hole is an absolute cracker. As you walk further down the fairway, you eventually come to a little stone bridge. Cross over and you'll see water all down the left hand side. Which actually leads to a nice little waterfall (man made of course) feature.

As I've said the course only gets going on the par 3 11th.

6/10 for me. That's Golf done for 2024.

Let's see what 2025 brings

Cheers.

Loved my round in lucan

Had lovely round in lucan yesterday, being out first in the morning helped as meant I flew around and really enjoyed it. New layout very good but long walk from 4th green to 5th tee box but otherwise all very close and lots of signage showing the way. New holes very nice and will be tough when the land around grows up and in. Greens really good, very true and lovely surface albeit a bit slow but not an issue as practise green same speed. Good afterwards in clubhouse really good and overall, fabulous way to get over Xmas and get some air

Lucan GC 1st Visit

Check in and buggy rental was smooth and efficient. Course was good, shame that they had just hollow tined and sanded the greens but its that time of the year for doing so. Really enjoyed the layout, very good fairways and tee boxes. A few holes on the back nine appeared quite open compared to the general tree lined parkland set up but on checking the course history, although 128 years old was extended from 9 to 18 holes in the mid 1980s. All in all a great course, superb value and a welcoming and sumptuous clubhouse bar and restaurant

Course in great condition

I live locally and have played this course on couple of occasions before but last Friday, the course was in great condition. I think the rain a day before with sun splitting the skies on the day really helped. I’ll be back again 👍

Friendly helpful staff and an enjoyable challenge

First : youre standing facing a hedge dropping to a manicured fairway but dont go right or it's out of bounds for you

Second to a fairway falling sharply to the right and guarded by trees on the left

7th a par 3 : choose your weapon! Mine is a softly hit driver which on my last outing yielded a birdie

Three new holes that feel like your on a links with dipping fairways and deep bunkers

Some lovely holes and tricky greens on this course. The new holes are a great addition, adds a new layer of difficult with a bit of links feel to them.
