Banyan Cay Resort & Golf

About
Originally opened as the Eagle Course at President Country Club, Banyan Cay Resort & Golf was renovated by Nicklaus design in 2017. The fairways are lined with coquina and pampas grass and there are also water hazards and sand bunkers coming into play throughout. The layout offers interesting par 3s that offer particularly nice scenery and a mix of par 4s that range from having ample room to being very tight and requiring more careful course management. The golf course opens with a risk-reward opportunity, a dogleg-right par 5 with a strategically placed lake.

construction site
This is the last day for this course but they shouldn't open because we are playing in a construction site other than the green we didn't see an inch of green grass never go back to this course.
Should be closed ....!!!
An insult to your intelligence if you think the course is in any playable condition. Jack Nicklaus should intervene and close the course. There are no fairways, all the grounds leading up to the greens are 100% dead with dry brown bits of grass, weeds and plenty of sand. The picture on the website is decietful and very misleading. Don't think that the description leads you into an imaginary slate of semi conditioned fairways that are being reconditioned for the "signature" course they profess. There is no doubt that the potential is there however, a world apart from acceptable to being so deplorable. So, if you desire to give your money away, play in dirt and sand, putt on greens that are yet to be at par for playing and filled with holes and weave your way in and out of a sand storm of dust and sand...! Then this is your course.
Bayan
The worst conditions ever see.
Real value should be less than 20$
We drove 1h expecting a great experience.
A credit will be appreciate.

Disappointed beyond words...
Are you kidding me.... turns out this course is closing soon, but not soon enough. It should be closed NOW!
The fairways and even areas near the greens have been killed. Only the greens have grass, and slick as can be. We were willing to give it a chance, but the #1 hole was a joke, and things did not get much better after that. Only the golf carts and the GPS system was acceptable. We were disappointed beyond words.

Yes, the course is closing soon, temporarily while it is rebuilt. Jack Nicolas Signature course is designed and being installed.
Challengeing
Played this course last year great layout very challenging great shape ..
Returned this year but they are rebuilding the course so fairways were all dead straw ...
Greens were in great shape ..
Discounted rate so the course was great to play again. I can't wait to play it when it's back in shape ..
DO NOT PLAY - DEAD BROWN FAIRWAYS - i.e., NO GRASS
I was very disappointed plying this course. The tee boxes and fairways grass were completely killed.
Do not sign up for a game without viewing. The course should be closed due to reconstruction.
VERY DISAPPOINTED PLAYING THIS COURSE.
Course getting ready to close in three weeks
We golfed here a number of times last year and it was great. They have applied a treatment to the fairways and tee off boxes that has killed all the grass. It is all brown. Supposed to be closing in three weeks for a complete remodel. We were very surprised at the condition.
Renovations! Watch out.
I booked a week prior and also read the advisory that the course was under construction and the pro shop was being renovated but the fairways, tee boxes and greens were good. Unfortunately, the only part of the course that was decent was the greens. The tee boxes were the most disappointing. After a "tough to swallow round", I read the advisory again and it was changed to brown conditions and good tee boxes and greens. Closer to reality, but not accurate. The tee boxes made getting started hard. I know the course was good and will be even better in the future, but the information was wrong and misleading. Rough round.
Banyan Cay
Booked a tee time at this course on a beautiful sunny day. I read that they killed the grass on the fairways to reseed them without realizing that we would be hitting mud balls the whole day. Greens were in perfict shape. Challenging course. This will be a good course when the grass grows back. Would like to revisit later next year. New course being built next to site.
No monitoring of pace
This was the slowest round of golf I've ever played. No one monitored the course, or move people along that were extremely slow.
Course was burned out in preparation for redesign and we didn't realize that when we booked.
Being developed by Nicholas
Despite the fact that the fairway grass is dead, the greens were well maintained and in good condition. Soon the course will be closed for redevelopment by Jack Nicholas
Wait
Course being prepares for redesign.
Fairways in bad shape, makes you miss a lot of shots
Tees and greens excellents
no grass!!
The course layout has changed but the same holes exist but with a different order. There is no grass left whatsoever except on the greens, which were good. The condition of this course should have been posted so someone booking it would know that Round up or a similar product was sprayed on the entire course except the greens. The ball didn't get any roll after landing, the fairways were like matted down straw! would not recommend this course until it is completely redone!!
Looks like west texas
They have killed all the fairway grass and the only thing green are the greens themselves. 43$ Plus tax here was a ripoff. Free range balls were given, but stil not worth it. Until this course is redone i will not return for certain!
Course fairway have been browned out on prep for course closing and re-design
Wish we would have known in advance that all fairways were completely browned out in preparation for closing the course for re-design !
Lost too many balls due to the conditions
And play was very slow - did not see any rangers all afternoon to monitor the pace ...
Lost soul
Use to love this place. They just browned the entire course which is really weird. Just left the greens which were great. Good value but really missed hitting irons off of grass and t boxes should have been left.
Plenty of water!!!!
The course was ok except the Bermuda was brown and the greens were full of fertiliser. Also all the surrounds of the green
We're sprayed with blue Weed control/fertiliser.
We were informed that by next year the course would be completely re_done with new fairways new greens and much redesign plus a new clubhouse!!!!!
Course was very well maintained
Course is very scenic. Green's were fairly
Fast and ball rolled out nicely. Only course
I played That had a beverage person out on the course.only negative was a grounds keeper drove his cart right UP to and past me as I was Teeing off!
I assume you didn't know that they are rebuilding that course and had to burn out the grass so that it could be replanted when the new design is completed. This is going to be a Jack Nicolas Signature course when completed.
