Great day, Terrible weather
Even with the pouring rain, the day was enjoyable. Challenging for everyone with fast undulating green and many forced carries.
They took the flagstick out of the holes
Luckily the carts have gps to tell you the pin positions.
For some reason they had 4 of the flagsticks on the back 9 pulled and put away in the maintenance shed before 5pm.
When i asked afterwards what the deal was, they told me they didnt think anyone would be playing that late. Even though I had one of thier power carts.
Overall it is a very nice course, and a treat to play. It just sort of sucked to feel like we were inconviencing them by being there, and to hit into holes without flagsticks.
Nice course but missing a few things
Glen Arbour is nice course that is always in good shape but the value isn't there. $90 - $100 is too much for this course when there are other great deals just outside Halifax. The golfnow deals are excellent when you can get them. For the money you pay, this course is missing two common things that every other course in the world has: colored flags and pin placements! Some of the greens are 40 or 50 yards deep with a few tiers but the course doesn't use color coded flags or pin sheets. The only hole I don't care for is #10, the rest of the course is great. The finishing stretch of 15 to 18 is a great walk around the lake.
Golf at Glen Arbour
The course was excellent!! We played a twilite and only played 12 holes which was fine. The only issue was that they did not have our power carts and that did not faze the pro shop worker!!! He said the carts were outside which they weren't and then said they would bring some down which was also not the case. We wanted a good 15 minutes trying to track down the carts!!!
In great shape, but
Course was fantastic; greens were fast and true. Disappointed they closed the food service at the turn even though several groups were on the course. No snack or beverage service on course at all, and could not get much quickly at restaurant (bag of plain chips and beer in a plastic glass). Also, booked on GolfNow and it said carts included, but when we got to course they said it meant "pull carts", even though adding a power cart wasn't an option online. Other times I've played, here, there were personnel at the bag drop but this time we were on our own until the starter (nice guy) stopped by the putting green. The range was closed, as well, so they could mow it (2pm???) Overall great course, good value, but the service has dropped off versus the past.
beautiful setting
I enjoy this course a lot , staff are always friendly.
Excellent as usual!!!
Course is in great shape greens were amazing shot one of my best rounds there 74!! Whooohooo
great course
Course was in great shape and greens run very true. Weather was not great but no fault of the course!!
No longer a must play in Nova Scotia
As an avid golfer and proud Nova Scotian it is sad for me to say but Glen Arbour is know longer a must play when visiting Nova Scotia. Glen Arbour is over priced for what you get.
The staff is not very knowledgable about there own course and if you ask for some tips on the course you wont get a good answer.
My reason for the poor course condition rating is that even though the course looks really nice it doesn't play very good. The greens do not roll good and the fairway grass is way to long!! It makes the holes play longer then they actually are because you do not get any roll out on your tee shots.
I would recommend staying away from the club house food its average at best and the greater Halifax area has some AMAZING bars and restaurants.
If you're looking for an area to go and put in a few hours of practice they do have an awesome range with a great par 3 course that will get your short game in tune. I would not recommend this course because for $90 a round and 20$ for a power cart its just not worth the cost.
Great comment. I didn't have to write one. Thanks for sharing. :-)
