Hartlen Point 'Forces' Golf Club (est. 1962)
While the course is on Military Property and managed/operated by DND personnel, I have been told only about a third of Members are former (retired, etc.) military personnel, RCMP or government employees... who receive a discounted membership of Green Fee upon presentation of recognized ID (CF1, etc). Most members are from the nearby communities of Eastern Passage, Cole Harbour & Dartmouth (The Greater Halifax Metro Region). The membership is very welcoming! Having been a Member of three other courses in the Maritimes, and having played countless others here and abroad, I rate it very highly for Quality to Price, in fact one of the BEST values for members, and quite competitive for Green Fee-ers. As far as the lay-out itself is concerned, it is very challenging, reminding me of links courses I've played In Scotland... and even moreso when Mother Nature adds her wrath... winds off the Ocean... the Canadian flag snapping and an official wind vane signalling 35+ K/H. The Greens are in superb condition and have subtle breaks to challenge even the most adept reader... members quick to tell me, "Everything breaks toward the Ocean... except you can see the Atlantic from 16/18 holes from various angles ! Gladly would walk 9, but would suggest a golf cart for 18 holes... the toughest walks between 8&9, 17&18. Highly recommend this course for avid golfers (NOT for debutants)... and call well ahead for reservations (availability), as membership is up in CoViD 2020, and active Military also have pre-allotted times. Your Honour... Enjoy !

Along the water
You can't get any better playing along the water in metro Halifax. It is a challenging course, and some days you can get a lot of wind and fog. But makes for a better challenge.
Beautiful Oceanside Course
I played in the absolute pouring rain and still thoroughly enjoyed the course. The layout of the course can be a bit confusing at times, but the signage points you in the right direction. The holes along the ocean are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. Great value
Playing Into The Fog Adds An Extra Challenge!
One of my favourite "Military" courses, Hartlen offers a bit of a challenge with a fantastic Atlantic Ocean view. Beautifully clear on the front 9, moderately thick fog on the back 9 (a proper Nova Scotia treat). The course itself is very well maintained, is considerably open, and has an excellent Club House Staff. Off-course does have options within Eastern Passage, however, you're likely better off heading to Halifax for your post-round entertainment.
