Knollwood Golf Club - Old

About
Knollwood Golf Club is home to two 18-hole courses, the Old and the New. The golf courses were built nearly 20 years apart. Opened in 1970, the Old Course is spread across beautiful parkland that is covered in trees. The layout is more traditional and less challenging than the other course at Knollwood Golf Club, but it is still an entertaining round. The main priority in creating the golf course was to not only maintain the natural features of the terrain, but also enhance it. Thousands of trees were planted in addition to those already present throughout the golf course. The result is a unique course that players of all skill levels will enjoy.

Muckbowl
Course was a swamp due to several days of rain. Lost a ball in the middle of two separate fairways, plugged in the mud. All lower lying areas were under water. Had to push the powercart twice because of no traction. Ponds overflowed banks. Should have been closed and prepaid fees refunded. This is one of my favourite woodland courses. I am disappointed they had the audacity to take our money for these conditions.

Soaking wet
The course was underwater. It should have been closed, there wasn't a dry spot anywhere on the course.
No hot food available, and the grocery store sandwiches were an absolute rip off. Staff was less than helpful, and what institution doesn't accept cash as a method of payment?
Great course to play
Great course to play as usual. The grounds were a little wet due to all the recent rainfall.
They staff and starter were most friendly and helpful.
The pace of play was a little slow but one had to take into account the cart path only rule due to the soggy grounds.
Love playing this little gem.
Mud ball at its finest
We play both Knollwood courses several times a year and usually enjoy the round. We booked this course because they were allowing carts out (restricted to the cart path) after all the rain we've had lately. Knowing it would be a little on the wet side, we went ahead and played. A little on the wet side was not an accurate descriptor of the conditions: most of it was either under water or a complete mud bath!!! We were happy to get out and play mid-October, however we felt the course shouldn't really have even been open as wet as it was
Worst customer service ever
Course unplayable due to conditions. Huge pools of water on fairways and greens. Tried to play but only got through 9. Course really should’ve been closed and had we known the state of it we wouldn’t have played. They also refused us a rain check for the 9 we didn’t play. Horrible customer service and will never go back. Ever. Will also tell everyone I know how horrible the customer service was. It was an absolute joke.
a perfect golf day
nicely kept, greens were very well maintained. not much trouble to get into but what there was i found.
Avoid at all costs
Course was in terrible shape, pace of play was absolutely brutal and marshalls did nothing to help the situation. A good 10 minutes was spent waiting at each tee block waiting for groups ahead of us. Wouldn’t spend another dollar there and recommend you find a different course to play if you are looking for a good time.
Good course
Id say average/good. Short course good for beginners. Some very wet boggy spots and some patchy dead areas. Most holes are straightforward with the exception of 2-3 holes which have more challenging approaches or tee shots. Got a cheap greens fee so for that money its worth it.
Great for mid-high handicaps
Reachable par 4s and short par 3s giving the opportunity to maintain a decent score. No bunkers.
Course in a nice wooden area with good separation between holes.
