Gleneagle Golf Course

About
Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington is just an hour north of Seattle. The 5,949-yard, par-70 layout may seem relatively short, but it's a course that will test your shot making skills and accuracy with strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens. The layout makes up for any lack of length in many other ways, including the treacherous rough that lines the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play as well, but there are more on the front nine than the back. There are some challenging holes but overall, players of all skill levels will enjoy the golf course, especially with its backdrop of cedar and fir trees spread across rolling hills. With a driving range also available, Gleneagle offers one of the area's best values for the money.

Greens are in nice shape!
Greens were in great shape. Fairways were wet and muddy in places due to the recent rains. Most of the bunkers are unplayable (take free relief) if you land in one.
Used to be nicer
Fairways & greens were in pretty good shape. They completely gave up on 1/2 of the bunkers and the driving range is a wreck (they claimed it was closed last time I was there because someone stole the range balls). Almost no staff. It used to be a very nice facility at a reasonable price. The hot deal on GN was good if you can play midweek.
Back to the COURSE it was meant to be
So excited to see that the new ownership has spent and worked so hard to resuscitate a great golf course. I played it a few years ago and was sad to see it had gone so far the wrong way. The new owners have removed trees, recommitted to the best public green conditions in Snohomish County, have a great Bar/Food and the general vibe is just outstanding. New fleet of carts are awesome and The course is still great - tough off the tee, Tough Par 3s on the front. ONly 2 Par fives, both reachable but also tight. The short par fours have plenty to keep a single digit handicap engaged. I hit every club in the bag, The WILD areas that were once overgrown Black berry patches, are now clearly seen as HAZARDS and if you hit it in them, that's on you. They are doing some work on the bunker front of 9 (Railroad ties) that will be really cool. I used to love coming up here to play in the 2010s and am so happy to know it is back. GLENEAGLE is a must for the price and location- the best thing in the area has returned.
Nice
Course was in great condition. I guy was a NO show, we couldn't even get a rain check for the 1 guy! Disappointing!
Slow play
5:15 to play is not acceptable. There was a Marshall but he didn’t help speed up play. Otherwise course was ok. The day before they had a big tournament and it had not been cleaned up yet. Quite a bit of garbage around. Ordered a breakfast sandwich before our round and that was very good.

Weird track with nice greens
Some of the wildest fairways I have ever played. Hard to find a level lie on many holes. The course was too wet in many places where the ground hit low points. The general layout hole to hole was okay and some holes were almost normal in pitch and slope. A few tricked up holes and a few that were very very tight. One hole was just downright DA for the Ladies due to a forced carry on a par 5 on the back side (I think it was number 11) that most Ladies would have to hit driver and then a short iron to the edge of a wetlands area and from there play on. Par was not possible if I were a female or short hitter.
Greens were very nice and had a lot of interesting movement. On the other hand most of the sand bunkers were hard and wet sand. The last par 3 had to abandoned bunkers, one in back of and the other right of the green. Weed filled with the racks just sitting in these waste areas. WEIRD.
Last item. The 18th hole flag pole was splintered at the base and caused me to inject a piece of fiberglass into the fleshey part of my palm. The good news, I did make par to finish my round. I did like all the shade the tall firs and cedar trees provided.

Fun course for all levels
Nice course, challenging yet fun. Very nice and efficient staff. Just enough challenge to keep you on your toes. Relaxed enough that you still have a great time. Great members as well.
