Links golf at its finest
I was able to become a member for a day and found this private track to be a stern test. The greens were huge, fast & undulating. There was a brisk wind ready to knock down any balloon shots you hit & a drive down the fairway could result in a pot bunker. But that is links golf & I enjoyed every second of it. Our foursome had the benefit of a forecaddy to show us the way as none of the holes are marked. He (Rory) was patient, helpful & a professional. The staff are amazing, friendly & genuinely concerned about your enjoyment of their beautiful course. The Marshalls keep the pace of play to about 4 hrs for the whole round. Truly a sublime experience. Looking forward to playing their sister course Devil's Pulpit down the road whom they describe as a more North American course. But overall, the Paintbrush was 5 star experience both for playability & staff.
Paintbrush
If you love links golf, want a taste of Scotland in your own backyard and get a chance to play this private course seize the day! Green complexes are enormous, some of the largest ones I have ever played. Bunkers are diabolical in there placement and design but the course conditions are sheer perfection and a properly placed drive or approach shot is rewarded. Tough but fair and walked and played in less then 4 hours.
