Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Canada (2023 #4)
Reviews
Great day
Course was excellent and layout was very enjoyable. Great day and staff went above to make my day better
Taboo Resort Golf
Top golf course in the Muskoka region. I play here a.couple of times each summer, always impeccable conditions, highly recommended.
Underwhelming
Based on the golf course ranking, we expected more. Pace of play was slow at best, with no one really monitoring it. We got so backed up on the 15th, that we decided we were done and didn’t want to wait anymore.
Not having a pro shop was really disappointing, because of the limited merchandise available. We would’ve spent more if size and styles were available.
The staff was very welcoming and the cart girl was great.
It was a gift for my dad’s birthday.
Nice course
It's a nice course in good condition. You pay a bit more but your in Muskoka 🙂
Pace of play
Went to taboo resort for a Saturday morning tee time, the course was in good condition but pace of play was poor and absolutely no enforcement of it. We trailed a group of 4 that was incredibly slow and was not interested in letting us play through. Two of the guys in the four in front of us were playing two tee shots on every single hole! I know this for sure because we waited directly behind the tee on every hole waiting to take the box. There has to be marshals out there enforcing stuff like that on a busy Saturday morning. Not to mention them not have enough carts for there afternoon times and rushing the earlier times in the parking lot to give up there cart after the round!! Be better!
Spend some money on drainage
I really enjoy playing this track . For 165-195 depending on time of year the course should be flawless. Every other time I play taboo there’s serious drainage problem. They hadn’t had rain in almost 2 weeks and I’m plugging in fairways aswell as the odd green. These guys are spending millions on a resort renovation/addition , put 250-350K in drainage to make this course amazing. In the current state the “ championship “ course is in max you should only pay 120 and that’s only because it’s in muskoka . Anywhere else it should be 100. Greens still rolled pretty quick. The practice facility and 19th home are top notch when the warmer weather comes ⛳️
Honestly, this was the best course we have ever played. We have played many beautiful courses all over the world and found this to be the most breathtaking scenery. The course is carved out of the Canadian Shield, rocky and fully forested, absolutely stunning, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. An incredible experience, highly recommend.
Great vourse
Friendly staff. Great course to play. The changes they have made are amazing
Great Challenge for any skill level
Taboo is located in Gravenhurst a very pretty town about 90 minutes north of Toronto. The resort has everything you would want .Beautiful setting, well appointed rooms , and wonderful food. The staff are there to help ,are warm and friendly. The golf course located just across the street was fantastic . Each hole was unique and challenging .The conditions were perfect but strategic play is a must ,bombing it was possible but not worth the risk. The greens are well protected but when you got on these greens putting speeds and slope were very fair. Practice facilities were very nice and next to the canteen between nine and ten is a fun par three shot . This is also a great place for a drink after your round and some fun side bets.
Beautiful Track, Beautiful Day
Taboo is a gorgeous place to play golf. Greens are fast will challenging slopes but they run true. The fall colours only highlight the atmosphere and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Their is variety and challenge in the layout which was in fantastic shape. This is a Muskoka gem!
