The Golf Club at Lora Bay

About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

It was OK
Weather not great. Many fairway bunkers need work. Construction eliminated 1 hole.
Disappointed
A lot of sand traps had no sand. 1 hole had a temporary green. Would expect discounted price given course conditions.
Lora Bay Fall round - Sep 29
Some nice changes tot he bunkers. Still work to do..would be great to see the greens roll around 9-10. They are still very slow...
Golfers beware, course overpriced & not well maintained
My husband, son and I have played this course for several years, even as recent as June 2024 and had no complaints. We organized a round with 2 other couples for Sept.22 & our experiences were so poor that we won’t be returning! Rude staff (Older men) at bag drop making us feel unwelcomed, thought it was our skin colour but our friends are Caucasians. Bob the Starter was very friendly, told us there would be a beverage cart running every 20 mins but there was no sign of it the entire round. We later found out from restaurant staff there was no beverage cart service that day! The course conditions were terrible, water logged fairways and bunkers throughout the course were overrun with weeds and pebbles. It’s very disappointing that green fees are $179 for such poor course conditions. Most courses are transparent about maintenance requirements of their course upfront but Lora Bay hides behind this. No refund is offered even with sufficient notice, only rain checks. Unfortunately, I booked a round for the 3 of us on Thanksgiving but that was before we had played on Sept.22 and realized how bad things have gotten at Lora Bay GC. I wish I could cancel now and get my money back!!!
The course is not in good shape. The bunkers which you know are horrible. Lots of red stakes in the fairways but they charge full price. Don't think I would recommend until they fix it
Great layout, lousy pace, price and beverages
Excellent layout in very good shape except for some neglected fairway bunkers. Pace of play was terrible. 5 hour round and no marshal. Beautiful sunny day and didn’t see the cart girl once. Called pro shop twice and told them where we were and still didn’t see her. $185 green fees and no service at all and slow play. Shouldn’t happen. Won’t rush back.
Won’t return
No marshals. Pace of play was horrible, bunkers in horrible shape and bad greens
Enjoyed the day and the twosome we were paired with
Lora Bay has been a go to when traveling in this area. It's in great shape and the price is always competitive. Staff are very friendly.
Bunkers need work
Overall, our round was extremely enjoyable and the golf course (Tee boxes / fairways / greens) were in excellent condition. Some of the views and vistas were outstanding.
However, I was quite disappointed to find most of the bunkers unplayable. The bunkers that have been worked on were okay, but not great. It wasn't worth the money we paid due to the bunkers.
Great Views and Great Golf
The golf course is right on Georgian Bay with views of the bay from many holes. The course is challenging and in great shape. They are upgrading many bunkers with excellent drainage and great sand.
Great Views and Challenging Golf
We booked through Golf Now months ahead. The course was in excellent shape except the sand traps. They were mid way through a reconstruction program on the traps. Half were completed and perfect. The other half were void of any maintenance and in terrible shape.
The fairways were in great shape as were the greens. The views of Georgian Bays are stunning from a few holes.
The starter did not tell us the course had been reversed and our GPS did not make sense until we realized the issue and flipped to front/back nines. There was no starter so it was confusing at the first tee. We arrived to no one and were getting ready to tee up when three lady members arrived and told us they were up next. Then two more ladies arrived walking so we just teed it up and went ahead of them because we were in carts.
