semi annual update
been closed for 20+months...I drove by today(10/23/21) and someone is maintaining the greens!!...they are ready for play and best shape I've seen in forever!...work needs to be done on the rest of the course...ownership will communicate this courses future when the spirit moves them...
what's up???
might be time to give up on this place. it's been closed for a year. Hate to criticize ownership as maybe he;s been sick or saddled with personal problems BUT, it's hard to blame on Covid-19, as other courses seem to be surviving!. A lack of information is particularly irritating. Just saw the course and it looks a long way from being even mediocre. I've long liked this layout, sorry to report
frustrating
drove by again...no signs posted...no info about plans on web sight ...grass is green and they appear to be mowing...no one in area has any idea of this places future....when i e-mailed ownership group they were very courteous but have no info...it's one persons decision ....why can't he tell us his "swing thought"?
when will they open??
I drove to the course ...they appear to be watering and mowing...I can't find anyone who knows when and/or IF they are re-opening...very frustrating!?, throw us a bone!...make some sort of announcement
Nice fairways and greens
Had a great time fairways and greens were very well maintained very scenic and beautiful enjoyed my round of golf.
Course closed
We drove 85 miles, to try a mountain course. Golf Now booked us for Monday 27th. The course is only open Thursday to Sunday. 170 miles, a day wasted, and Golf Now has my money, as they made me pre pay.
There were some staff on had, but they would not let us walk the course!
I will wait and see if my review is read!

Stay away
Host at club house was extremely rude. Played in full and booked through golfnow. Host was rude about paying fees for cart rental when it was included in the booking with golf now. I had proof it was included in the price, host didn't care. First time playing this course, will never play again. For the drive out to Warner Springs, course not worth it. Extremely dry conditions.
Cart fee
They now charge a $10 per player cart fee even though the tee time reservation clearly states cart included, I guess they don't want you to know that until you get all the way out there.
Correction to My Previous Review
THe frequency of play should be a few time a week, not twice a year.
Nice Course, Friendly, Really Good Food
The review on 9/01/2019 by wgonyea is REALLY questionable. There is NO way he/she spent $90 for a round for two at GolfNow for this course.....usually we pay $17 each but have seen up to $31 on Sunday. Perhaps this person has another reason for being so high on San Vicente, a nice course but priced closer to his/her $45 per person rate.
The people at Warner Springs are so nice, EVERYONE is friendly and professional, from the Pro Shop to the chef/cook and servers. The greens are slower than some others as they have been reseeding and aerating and holding off on mowing as often. The fairways are fast, though, and often a little narrow for my errant drive. :-) Overall, this is a fun course with a couple of really challenging holes (Number 11)! When we discovered WS in late Spring, we just kept coming back, same time every Friday, same routine, have breakfast and play. Warner Springs is like our own country club, except there are no food/beverage minimums!!
Terrible condition of course
We came to this course due to other reviews of it being in great shape. I don't know what others were talking about. We were going to play 36 holes. When we got there the pro shop guy went into a rant about Golf Now and how they shouldn't have had our tee time available and how the course would only be getting the cart fee. Ridiculous. The course is in terrible shape. The greens were way over grown. You literally couldn't get the ball to roll even downhill without way overhitting it. Greens are diseased as well and a good portion of the rough was way over grown. It was a joke. We left after 3 holes and went to San Vicente and played 36 holes and I thoroughly encourage others who are headed out east of San Diego to play SV instead. Warner Springs is a goat ranch with poor service. They don't even try. Will never come back. Spent about $90 for a twosome and we left in disgust without trying to continue past hole 3. Don't waste your time or money
A nice quiet round
Worth the drive... A nice location for a golf course away from everyone. We have the course by ourselves on a hot Saturday morning (except for a group at the 18th), so pace of play was great. The tee box, fareways and greens are OK for SoCal summer and for the price. Lots of wild turkey and cayotes around the area. Not much challenge for single digit handicap but we have a blast.
Course come-back
After a one year hiatus due to poor course conditions, I decided to give WSRR another try after hearing that the course was on the rebound.
I was pleasantly surprised at the improvement. Fairways were very good, the rough was mowed to a manageable height and the greens are now rolling true again. Granted, they aren't as fast as the old days before the sale but they are much faster than one year ago.
The beauty and wildlife haven't changed so give it a try.
much improved
they've made good strides toward improvement,,,greens are much better...constant mowing of fairways...rough is pretty rough in places...layout has always been great...there's no "sameness" to these holes, each one is a separate adventure....interesting wildlife, I've seen coyote, bobcat, wild turkey, & eagles....mark & don are always accommodating in the clubhouse....keep up the good work
Fairways ruf
Overall nice course need to trim ruffs shorter too tall. Greens were very well maintained.
Need more maintenance staff.
The rough was jungle like and while the tiny crew is trying to cope with that, the grass in the fairways continues to grow and some fairways will be like normal rough soon. The owner refuses to invest in staff and equipment to keep this course decently maintained. It’s only worth playing when there are hot deals. Would be a great course if the owner wasn’t such a cheapskate and hired more staff and hired a qualified greens superintendent!
Have you contacted GolfNow about this? They are very good about dealing with compalints.
They will probably offer you some kind of credit. They have done that for me in the past.
