Golf Manitou

About
Golf Manitou offers a unique golfing experience but avid golfers may find some of the holes to be quite familiar since each one is inspired by famous golf courses around the world including Pinehurst, Augusta National, and Turnberry. Known as the best "championship short course" in the country, the golf course measures 3,355 yards from the back tees. You won't find any par 5s, instead there are 14 par 3s and four par 4s. Be prepared for a variety of challenges including strategically placed bunkers and tall trees. One of the most memorable holes is modeled after a par 3 at Desert Highlands in Arizona. It features an island green that is surrounded by sand instead of water. The final hole is a tribute to the Manitou itself. The triple-tiered green on this par 3 makes proper club selection essential.

The manitou has had a better past
This is a par 3 and par 4 course. The layout is fun to play with some interesting holes. There is somewhat a replica of the 12th hole at Augusta. The course conditions have been much better. The greens are fine though. The bunkers are unplayable and are filled with rocks ranging up to 4in diameter. I don't feel like the 40$ you'll pay here are worth the money. It used to be great, some 6-7 years ago.
What happened here
The bunkers are rocks with some sand in it. The grass is like in a back yard . The rough is like weeds. The course layout gives you 4 par 4 ( from 250 yds to 325) and par 3 's from 100 to 240 yds. There are 5 blind shot (all on par 3's) . The course used to be in great shape but they cut the budget and that's what happens.
Easy fun course but quality is below average
I always wanted to play at Manitou. I was very excited to go and try it. The young girl at the pro shop is so nice and friendly , I wish I knew her name , she really enjoys her job.
The course itself is below average. If you have seen the Picture of the advertising of Manitou , well be prepare to be in shock. It doesn't even look close to it but the design has potential. The fairways and sand traps are just horrible. The sand trap had lots of rocks in it. The layout is very average, you always have to be on the look out for other balls coming from several holes. The day I played was very slow , we sometimes were 3 groups waiting at the same time while the 4th group was teeing off.
Just a fun course
Short course but great variety in holes and the need to play different clubs. Great opportunity for those not hung up on pounding the long ball
The price is right
Mostly Par 3 hole. Challenging course mostly because there is no accurate indication of distance to go to the greens. Where there are some, it is not even close to be accurate. Several holes on the course with no fairways at all; just a tee off and a green area. Accuracy with your iron shots is paramount.
Scenic beaut;y in the mountains
Beautiful course. Challenging holes. Accuracy is a must on several holes. We've played this course 9 times now and would keep coming back.
Deceived
We where deceived when we plades this course. On the first 9 holes to many blind shots on par 4's without distance signs.
Greens where fine, but missing information.
We do not recommend this course to average players without a gps in hand.
Sorry but this is what we feel.
Manitou provides a glimpse at the future of golf
I envision the golf of the future to be a lot like the experience at Manitou. Fun. Fast. Scenic. Walkable. Playable for all.
Playing Manitou's unique par-58 routing of 14 par 3s and four short par 4s provides a nice change of pace from the tougher full-sized courses of the region. Your score will be lower, it's walker-friendly and, maybe most important, your round will be much quicker. Golf in a holiday region such as the Laurentian Mountains must be fast. Golfers need to get their fix and then have enough time to enjoy the rest of their vacation.
As with other replica courses, it's questionable just how close the holes play to the famous holes they represent. But most of us will have never played at Oakmont and Gleneagles and Medinah, so just let your imagination run wild.
very good course for the money
Super frieendy staff
