Poor Condition
The course is in poor condition and the green fees they charge are not worth it.
Go-to Cheap Course for North Houston Area
Its definitely not what it used to be, old age and hurricane harvey really brought this course to its knees. Course isn't really well ran but that's just because its understaffed. My biggest gripes here are the tiny greens which are pretty slow, most of the houses are almost right on the course with no fencing on most of them, and the giant concrete ditch that runs through/aside some of the holes. Range is alright but could be better. Overall, if you just want a cheap place to play that isn't horrible, this is the course for you.
Overpriced and Under Maintained
My expectations were shattered almost immediately upon arriving at the first green. It was mostly brown with divets all over it. It looked like a diseased plant and made putting quite a challenge. The back nine was backed up and we had to wait for every shot and every hole and the group in front of us picked up my friends ball on his drive at home 16 and then left it for us on the green of 18. For $50 I had higher hopes. I will be returning to this course.
Need to work on the greens
I won't go to hard on the course because of the current climate with COVID. However, they are still charging over $50 for a round and the greens were just awful. I don't even think you could call them that. Pace of play was not great but not too bad.
The positives were the fairways. They were in good condition for the time of year.
I would reccomend their other course, West Fork, over this one. I would advise them to drop the price a little until they get the greens back up to shape. I know that is counterproductive but just seems fair.
How depressing
This use to be a great place to play. Beautiful layout awesome greens. Since new ownership took over it has fallen apart. Terrible greens . It seems that there are no care takers taking care of this place. The members must be out raged. Go play somewhere else this has become a joke.
New Ownership! Must Play!!
New Ownership! Best Value in The Woodlands, Conroe, Spring area. The Course was in great shape despite all the rumors. Food Outstanding and Staff is Terrific. Email specials are awesome!!
This is by far the best bang for your buck course in Houston. Must Play!!
Use caution
This review is a use caution review: it’s a great layout, in fact one of the best in Houston. The course is generally in decent shape for the 3 employees that manage the up taking. As far as membership options, seriously one of the worst in Houston. It went from over 1000 when it was a country club with all kinds of fun off course events and activists. Since the new ownership took over, it’s now an 18 hole course with limited membership options and around 200 full members and 150 pdp members. All because the owners won’t honor the former members or accommodate anyone except their own business, fair enough moneys money, but then again it’s the entertainment industry. Working there is anarchy and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I don’t even want to get started but to keep it put- Rob is amazing and will get the best out of his employees other than that, when Dave comes around for 1-2 hrs once or twice a week, he never says anything good to anyone: members, employees, guests, etc. he treats everyone like they are his peasants. He will break you down until you feel worthless and it’s a shame to have great qualified employees and tear their reputation and feelings down. He’ll throw you a decent starting pay with benifits and all but a few days in he’ll start his decline on pay and what you are offered instantly. Multiple times guests would wait at the counter to check in and he would pull the staff in an open door meeting in his office and yell and curse at employees in front of everyone over absolutely nothing except the fact that he doesn’t care about RP, just oakhurst. It’s a shame for RP residents that the Charleston course closed and no memberships for the great people there are offered especially after Harvey. The place would constantly get under 60 check ins a day on weekends which is probably 100-200 less than most courses in that area for a reason- NO MARKETING SKILLS. He will take all of his tough problems and blame them on Rob and the pro on duty. I would like to see success there, and like mentioned is a great track, but use caution, especially working there.
under new management
River Plantation is open under new management and Rob and crew are getting the course in Great Shape. It is a Public course now that all can enjoy.
Course conditions
They are closing Charleston....not enough members to support 27holes....it,was mostly dirt vs any grass,...lots of weeds Augusta was still closed due to Harvey bridges still, out. Would not pay to play there ever again. Food after event was below average Think,it was frozen chicken cordon blue , but served with roasted potatoes (good) and pasta salad. Strange combination for sure.
Fun but sad
I enjoy playing here. I play and or practice here 2-3 times a week. You play this park like course that is surrounded by gutted out homes from the hurricane flood waters. The first tee not so bad but by the time you get to five it starts to hit you all these people are displaced. If it does not tug on your heart that you're playing a game on a beautiful day while there are people all around you rebuilding their lives your not human. May the lord bless everyone of them and give them strength to rebuild.
Fun course and it was in good condition. Greens were great. Will play again
The Biloxi course was soak and wet and we haven't had any rain for over 6 weeks.
One question
They charged me the convenience fee that I thought I had already paid to GolfNow but other than that everything went great.
The course was in good shape! And the staff was very friendly. The only other thing I didn’t like was the 2 foursomes I had to play behind. Not marshal to speed up play. But, after that I will be back again to play very soon
