El Cortes Golf Club

About
Situated along the Sea of Cortez, El Cortes Golf Club (formerly known as Costabaja Golf Club) overlooks the resort and the pristine white sandy beaches. On clear days, which occur often, the sparkling blue waters seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. El Cortes is the country's first Gary Player Signature golf course. The layout tumbles across dramatic elevation changes accented with stands of cacti, giving it a unique "desert-by-the-sea" feel. The course is a challenging but fair test that will appeal to a wide range of skill levels with elevated tees, wide fairways, and receptive greens. El Cortes Golf Club's par-5 14th is one of the most memorable holes since it requires an accurate shot to a fairway situated 200 feet below, it is the most daunting tee shot on the golf course for sure. While it may be the most dramatically elevated tee, it is definitely not the only one.

Unique course
First time playing and with no gps a real challenge. We had no idea what to do off half the tee. I would play again if back in La Paz but we were expecting a better layout.
Amazing, Challenging
Choose your tee box wisely. This course can be challenging for all levels of play. Condition was awesome, staff is extremely accommodating. There is a rumor that the course will close at the end of the month for a change of ownership. Hopefully, it reopens quickly as this is a true gem of the Troon family.
Excellent course
The course is in great shape well maintained, staff very friendly & accommodating! Fantastic views. Great day!
Great golf, great views
Greenest public play golf course in BCS. nice range and practice area. Beautiful views of LP harbour and area. Fun, challenging, can be breezy.
THE BEST GOLF IN BAJA SUR
I have played most of the courses in Baja Sur. Costa Baja is by far the most interesting, most beautiful, most challenging and in the best condition of all.
Breathtaking views with challenging holes
I have played the course at least once every year since it opened in 2010 (2-5 times a year for the past 3 years). It is a typical Gary Player Signature course with wide fairways, many bunkers, and large undulating greens. Costa Baja is a challenging course depending on the tees selected with elevation change on many holes and a couple of holes with blind tee shots. My son, his friend, my nephew and myself just finished a golf outing to Los Cabos where we played our first 3 rounds at Costa Baja (26-28 March 2015). It was their first time and they all want to return to La Paz to play there again. If you want to feel like you are playing on your own country club course then don't miss out on playing here!!! Everything is 5 Star quality - fairways, greens, staff, and restaurant. And the price is by far the best in Los Cabos - worth the drive from Cabo San Lucas.
Valet Golf at its best!
From the moment you arrive at the gate you realize that this place is something special. You area treated like course owners, the carts are in immaculate condition, driving range and practise areas are like fairways and greens at most courses. The staff can't do enough for you. If you are in the LaPaz area, this course is a must play.
Well worth the drive.
We made a special trip down from Loreto to play this course for two days. Stayed at a great place, LA Posada.
The course was beautiful, well maintained and the staff was excellent!
Free practice balls and all the water you could drink. The topography was very cool. Lots of up and down holes. ..a regular Disneyland of cart paths. Greens were a little hairy, but in excellent condition. Views over the Sea of Cortez were amazing!
Gary Player Magic
This is a great course. We were staying in Los Cabos and made the two hour drive to Latinas Pas...definitely worth it. For this course I would do it again. The weather was a bit hot, but virtually no humidity. The design of the course is fun for all skill levels. Played with the wives and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely go back.
Wonderful golf course
My husband and I went to Costabajagolf and tee up at noon. It was a really hot day. The staff was very nice. They gave us extra water and since it was our first time they took the time to explain everything. They even provided us with wet towel at the end of the course. The course was amazing. Beautiful view especially from hole 16, simply incredible! The course was perfectly balanced with some nice challenge and also easier one.
We will go back again and bring some friends.
Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for a private event. We did not have a chance to taste the food but we managed to get a drink on the patio. Overall it was a great experience.
Costa Baja is Second to none
Costa Baja is world class. I have played a lot of course in North America and Costa Baja is as good as any. If you are in La Paz or the surrounding area, then it's a must play for a golf addict. You will not be disappointed. 6 small beer's for 105 pesos ($9.00) and 3 free taco's at the turn. AWESOME
March Golf
Weather was magnificant, lmited wind and the course is in very good shape. Withe the different tee box selection, there is agood wide range of skill level testing. The views are awsome. Helpful staff.
Great elevtion changes. Really put in a copuple of extrteam holes
Exciting, Great expansive views of beautiful area.
Beautiful views and challenging.
I loved it. Look for all you can golf on Wednesdays.
Costa Baja
This course was a lot of fun to play. 1st class facilities and condition of course was excellent. Staff are courteous, professional and very friendly.
Plays long off the back tees. Played the course several times whilst I was in the area from Black and Gold tees. Recommend forward tees when the winds up !! Awesome views of the Sea of Cortez. Very hilly course. Some great holes and some quirky ones.
excelllent course but pricey
Costa Baja lovely course but a bit quirky, Also played the course on mogote more traditional links style inexpensive $50 worth the boat ride, greens are great fairways going thru some growing pains, more difficult than Costa baja if your looking for a challenge.
A wonderful surprise
We had a great time on this course. It was well maintained and has breathtaking views of the Pacific. We looked forward to each hole. The wind was in play on Sunday but that was ok as we are from Tricities Wa. and often play in the wind. The accessibility was a bit of a problem as we were not sure of the destination and just followed the signs and then the bay. Is there a back way? We drove up from Cabos through Todos Santos.
This course conditions are great and it has very scenic views of the sea.
The course conditions are great. The staff are very friendly and provide great service. The course has some very challenging holes but a couple of them are a bit quirky. Overall it is a course which you must play if you are in the area.
