Not the same place
Years ago this place was great ! Not so much anymore. You can tell they are just keeping the course going with the bare minimum. Not spraying for your normal weeds etc…. Bunkers are about unplayable . It’s a shame but you can tell the casino and the course are on limited budget .
Fun course
Nice layout with smooth running greens. Good mix of easier and harder holes. Overall condition was very good. A very enjoyable round.
Nice course, lost our tee time
They let us out but had lost our resv. We played behind a large outing but enjoyed the course.
love it
love this course. just wish it was cheaper sometimes. But it was in really good shape. My congrats to the grounds crew.
Course in very poor condition with staff very unprofessional
Our bad experience started with the clubhouse attendant charging us full price and not wanting to honor our GolfNow contracted price. He gave us an excuse that they don’t have that rate on weekends. I didn’t stand for this and after 2 phone calls the attendant made to someone in the management department, I was given the GolfNow price. The attendant did NOT apologize, was very rude, and was “put off” by the fact he had to give me the GolfNow price and issue a cash difference to me.
Secondly, the course was in very unacceptable conditions. Tee boxes were burnt up and had divots everywhere, even on par 4’s and par 5’s! It was obvious the course management team has decided to cut back on expenses and forgo watering on the entire course. This place has gone down considerably both in course excellence and customer service.
After decades of playing this course, I will NOT be going back to this place. Completely unacceptable to have this occur at once was a very nice place to spend a day of golf and eat at the casino.
Sorry to see this place go to the crapper!
Good Layout, GolfNow failed
Got to the course, golf now reservation was not even in their system. So had to wait almost 30 minutes after our tee time to go off behind 4-5 groups waiting on the first tee box. Got onto the first green and the irrigation turned on (got soaked). Pace of play was slow, greens were pretty bumpy and littered with ball marks. Overall course in decent shape, bunkers are mixed with what seems like dirt, pea gravel and a little sand. $70 was steep for the condition.
Going downhill fast
I really want to leave a good review here, I learned to play sand shots, shots out of the rough, and how to read greens here about 15 years ago when I was starting my golf career, but I'm not going to and they deserve every negative review they get in spite of the pandemic.
Ownership is the issue and it was a problem pre-pandemic. The casino and hotel are run down and as much they are killing the revenue for the course. The bathroom in the clubhouse had cockroaches and there was no food, on a Friday, aside from candy and chips. The beer selection is terrible too. So as far as amenities go it's bare bones. No range and just a small putting green, which takes you out of contention for a course charging $68 dollars a round!
The greens are slow, if you can read them though it's the most interesting part of the course as the defense of the course, aside from penal rough, is the grass growing opposite the breaks to fool the player. But when they're this slow it's no fun for advanced golfers. The grass on the teeboxes is not mown well and some of the grass is so thick you can't find the ground.
Bunkers are dirt with rocks, not sand that you would find anywhere in the world, but cheap playground dirt, lots of rocks, beware your vokeys. They're using the same sand for the traps that they're using in the waste bunkers so no good. And there are no rakes anywhere so if you're playing later in the day you may be SOL for bunker conditions.
Rough was in good condition slightly penal, but not going to make it unbearable for newer players. The tall grass is supposed to be penal that's links golf. Don't overestimate your ability to hit it straight AND long or you may lose some balls.
Not worth the rate they're charging I almost felt stupid for paying the hot deal rate as that's still too much. This is an under $40 course for this area till and if ever they get there stuff together. Better courses in the area: all but meadow wood, Avon, fern.
They can't afford to staff the place and it shows (No bartender/food staff on a Friday on a gorgeous summer day). This course is in dire need to separate itself from the casino and new ownership. Poor excuse for what this place used to be and what it's capable of being.
RS
The course was in great shape and not too crowded. Staff was friendly.
Solid links style course
Played Saturday morning, course busy, front nine 2 hrs, back 2.5, acceptable, course very wet from recent rains, maintenance ok, sand traps not maintained. Worth playing if in area, not worth an extra trip,
Nice course
Wide fairways invite big swings. The rough is cut but challenging. Greens are on the smaller side which is okay but they were slooooooowww. On the good side, the greens were rolling true and in very nice shape. Fairways were all in great shape like 9/10 and lush but well groomed. I'm assuming that the bunkers were supposed get sand at some point but never had a problem. Staff was all pleasant and friendly BUT there was no cart service on the course AND no water coolers on the course. I would play again at the bargain price of $50. Also, there is NO practice facilities so go hit balls at a range before getting to the course.
Great course and excellent staff
Great Staff. Bought the 11am hot deal and the ferry didn't start running until 11. They were very upstanding and fit us in 30mins later than out tee time. The course is well taken care of. Made for a fun afternoon. Did not push or wasn't pushed. Had a great time. Will play agajn
Will play it again
Our foursome drove over 100 miles to play. Apparently it had rained quite a bit so it was cart path only. I wish we had notification prior and we would have taken push carts and walked it. This is a big course so it can be a long walk from the path to the other side of the fairway. Take your driver and let it rip, there’s plenty of room. Fun to play. Greens were nice but a bit slow. I do wish people had the courtesy to repair ball marks. I probably fixed more than 50 fresh ones from the groups in front of us. Great staff. We will definitely play again but only if it hasn’t rained for a while.
Course was wet do to rain evening before it was cart path only. Hot and very humid day no water on course or beverage cart
Course in very good condition as it always is
.slow play on front nine due to 2 groups of 4 in front of me that did not play ready golf on a Saturday. And backed up the course
